The Green Bay Packers continued their trend of making Pro Football Focus’ team of the week after week 2 of the preseason.
A week after receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling had the highest grade among receivers for his work against Tennessee, the Packers had four of the highest-graded players.
They again had a receiver, with Jake Kumerow earning the league’s highest grade at 91.2. Kumerow had three receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown.
The Packers’ defense did their part too, particularly a couple of cornerbacks. Rookie Josh Jackson received the highest grade at 95.2. Tramon Williams was right behind him at 94.6.
Both players had pick-sixes. Jackson didn’t allow a reception on three targets. Williams allowed a passer rating of 43.8 while allowing one reception.
Kicker Mason Crosby was the final member of the team to earn his position’s top grade, a 74.3. He was 3-for-3 on field goals, with two over 50 yards, and hit all six of his extra points.
I don’t know if we can get too excited about receivers in the preseason.
A guy named Rashad Ross lead the NFL in preseason receiving yards a few years ago. He has only caught 9 passes in the NFL. Marcus Easley lead the NFL in preseason yards a few years earlier. He has only caught 3 passes in the NFL. Travaris Cadet lead the NFL in preseason receiving yards. He never caught a pass in the NFL.
