Yearly hamstring injury? Groin?
Nope. Neither.
Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews got blasted in the face by a softball at the team’s charity softball game on Saturday. The drive, which came off the bat of offensive lineman Lucas Patrick with Matthews pitching, broke the linebacker’s nose.
Matthews immediately went off the field, holding his glove over his face. He was taken to the ER shortly thereafter.
Thank you for all the concern and well-wishes. I busted my nose pretty good and will have surgery once the swelling subsides. Thankful as it could have been much more serious 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Matthews and receiver Davante Adams were captains of their respective teams, taking over the game from departed receiver Jordy Nelson, who took over the game from retired receiver Donald Driver.
The game was delayed for about 30 minutes after the Matthews’ injury. When it resumed with Adams on the mound, there was a batting practice screen in front of the pitchers mound.
“Tough guy, because I would’ve still been on the ground right now,” Adams said. “We’re just going to pray for him and hope that he feels better soon.”
And so it appears everything will be fine, except for possibly Clay’s pretty face. The real shame here is a crooked nose could really sap Matthews’ endorsement potential.
