Jeff Janis left the Green Bay Packers on Friday and signed with the Cleveland Browns. A lot of Packers fans were saddened. Others were angry. Some were happy that Janis will seemingly now get a chance to realize his potential as a receiver.
I have my doubts about that.
Although I have no love for Fat Mike and his ability to creatively utilize players like Janis or get the most out of them, we are talking about a guy who has 17 career receptions for 200 yards in a four-year career. If that were one season, I’d say maybe he has a chance to contribute on offense for the Browns. I’m all for the guy proving me wrong, but history suggests he won’t.
I’ve never quite understood the fascination with Janis. Has a special teams player ever had a bigger fan club? Anyway, I’m sure the legend will only grow in Cleveland.
Here’s what some of the boys had to say.

Long live the People’s Champion.
I think a big part of the hype is due to Jeff’s game-changing qualities. As I endlessly watch his highlight tapes , the announcer’s voice echoes: “This guy does nothing but catch touchdowns.” Five of them in preseason. His college career and All-American status was filled with similar heroics. Then there’s his unique athleticism and the possibilities that brings. Nor can we discount the fairy-tale aspects: small town, Division II college, white guy playing a black man’s position. Thanks for the post, which shows his teammates hold him in the same high regard that the fans do. He’s what makes being a sports fan great!
Well now, it’s not just McCarthy or Rodgers. Gutenkunst doesn’t know talent either. He will rue the day he let this treasure leave!!
A+ post.
Nice .
Don’t be surprised if he ends up driving to Pittsburgh first instead of Cleveland.
He’d get lost on the route there.
I don’t want to be the materialistic weasel of the bunch, but do you think the Packers will get a compensation pick out of the deal? ;-)
You don’t start reading the will at the funeral my friend. Can that wait until we’ve had the time to properly mourn?
Long live the People’s Champion.
Northeast Ohio is a shithole lol. Greatest place on earth…..
It’s so great that they nicknamed it “The Mistake on the Lake.”
Three articles about Jeff Janis going to the Browns? I think TotalPackers likes Janis more than anyone I know.
I think TotalPackers likes kicking a beehive when they come across one.
Agreed. I believe that they do it to enable all of the smart asses, misanthropes, ne’er do wells, schadenfreudist’s, assholes and know it all’s . . . myself included. From a purely reactionary place, this place is a hoot . . . Love coming in hear.
I here that.
here not hear . . .
1265 Lombardi ave will no longer have the glory hole specials. It’s a fucking shame. Biggest off season loss in the history of the franchise. They could have turned him into a corner and solved their cornerback problems.
He could have been the next Sam Shields! Without the concussions.
