Allen Robinson has proven himself to be a dipshit. Or at least, all things being equal, that is the case.
The receiver got a hefty payday from the Chicago Bears — three years and $42 million, with more than $25 million guaranteed. He said his decision came down to the Bears and the Green Bay Packers.
“With all things being equal, Chicago was a place I had my eyes on from a football standpoint,” Robinson said.
“It’s a spot with a lot of benefits as far as it being close to home. The close-to-home thing was a very minimal factor but it was still a factor.”
Robinson is from Detroit, so, okay.
However, dude chose catching passes from Mitch Trubisky over Aaron Rodgers.
Smart.
Okay, perhaps we are being over simplistic. We have no idea what the Packers’ offer to Robinson was. We would suspect based on their low-balling nature and the fact that Robinson actually says he wants to play in Chicago, that it was lower than the Bears’ offer.
The Packers were probably sitting there saying the same thing we just said. Hey, we’re not going to give you as much money, but we’ve got QB1. You gonna pick Mitch Trubisky over that? Hahahahahaha!
Anyway, I would say, not a big deal. For the money Robinson got in Chicago, I’d pass.
He’s had one spectacular season — 1,400 yards in 2015. Hasn’t hit 1,000 yards in any other year. He’s coming off a torn ACL that he suffered in the first game of the 2017 season. And as we know with Jordy Nelson, who suffered the same injury in 2015, you don’t immediately return to form.
It took Nelson half a season to really feel comfortable.
So Allen Robinson for more than $10 million per year. You go get paid.
