Not spectacular, but definitely solid. That’s what we will recall of safety Morgan Burnett, who signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday.
Also, a solid individual and a leader. Burnett did nothing to change that opinion with this.
Not the first guy to leave the Packers for another team. Not the first guy to thank people on the way out.
Burnett is most likely in decline and has become injury-prone. That’s why the Packers didn’t particularly make a real effort to re-sign him. However, there will be a leadership void on the defense that needs to be filled.
We know Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is probably too stupid to fill it. Clay Matthews doesn’t have the capability. Mike Daniels talks a lot, but can’t really fill the role of Burnett. So who is going to be the guy now?
My best guess is linebacker Blake Martinez is going to have to step up.
“HHCD is too stupid to fill in.” Funny.
“Coach, my headset ain’t woikin’!”
“We know Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is probably too stupid to fill it.”
That gave me a good laugh because it’s true.
It was Joe or Rob who previously wrote that Burnett was a leader and he was steady. I would agree with that. Nothing great, but sufficient.
Burnett isn’t the first guy to thank the team and it’s fans, but it’s a class act move nonetheless.
Happy trails brother.
