Demetri Goodson will Be Back in 2018

That is, unless he eventually gets cut. However, as of today, cornerback Demetri Goodson is a member of the Green Bay Packers in 2018.

He’s the guy who just won’t go away.

Under normal circumstances, Goodson would have been an unrestricted free agent next week. However, since he was on the physically unable to perform list beyond the sixth game of 2017, his contract was basically pushed back a year.

Goodson, who the Packers have primarily used on special teams, tore his ACL and MCL during the 2016 season. He did eventually come off the PUP, but then injured his hamstring and was put on injured reserve.

At the end of the day, Goodson didn’t play a down for the Packers in 2017. He did make three starts at cornerback for the Packers in 2016, when the position was ravaged by injuries.

It’s too bad he was injured…. but even before that how was he still on the roster? And how is he STILL there? They cut Gunter but kept him??!!

Definitely… cutting Gunter but keeping Goodson didn’t make any sense. Gunter was proven to be decent, and a fighter in those situations where he was overmatched and he knew he was overmatched, like covering Julio Jones. On the other hand, Gunter hasn’t really shown his abilities as CB. So yeah, way to go, let’s just cut the proven guy over this complete stranger that plays mainly on ST.

Seriously this guy must piss wine and shit gold coins to be able to stay around as long as he has.

          Yea…lol

I don’t remember who it was, but some years ago, the Packers cut a player and kept Goodson instead. What i do remember is some Packer fans having a problem with that. They wanted to keep the cut player and cut Goodson. I wish i could remember who it was, just not bad enough to try and look it up.

In other news: Sam Shields is now a Ram.

I remember him. I think his last name started with an R. He signed with another team and made some comment about how it would be nice to go somewhere new and have and have an opportunity to start. Hmm, Green Bay play favorites?? Couldn’t be.

Jumal Rolle! It says he jumped around from team to team but never stuck anywhere, despite having 3 ints and 4 blocked passes in 6 games with the Texans. Strange, you would think someone would feel he was worth keeping around. Definitely more so than Goodson.

“His ascension to starting nickel CB is not proving to be too big a task for Rolle, as he has 3 interceptions and 4 pass break-ups despite playing in only 6 games thus far.”

Yea, that name isn’t jumping out at me. I hate to admit it, but that name is like fog to me. Maybe it’s dementia kicking in. Where’s Ted, i feel like playing crazy eights.

Seriously, this nonsense has to end. Why was this guy taking a roster spot on the 53? He is PS material at most. Or, at best, years away from being a CB and exploiting his alleged athletic abilities. Why keeping him before so many players that has shown some ability? I’m not just talking about the CB position. We could have kept Tysom Hill, who also plays ST, for that matter.

      *have shown some ability…

Come on MJ. McCarthy can’t tell if his QBs outside of Rodgers can play QB. How can we expect him to know Hill would be a demon on STs? I would love to sit in those meetings/film sessions and hear how McCarthy breaks down film of these guys. They must be colossal fuckups.

I’m resigned to the fact that this guy will be on the roster forever……and never play.
