The Green Bay Packers have added another coach to their defensive staff. Like the last one, they haven’t announced what he’ll be coaching, however.
The hire is Ryan Downard, who was the safeties coach at Bowling Green.
And if you’re looking for a replacement for Darren Perry with the Packers, you probably have your answer. Perry, who was passed over for the defensive coordinator job that went to Mike Pettine has been looking for other work.
Perry interviewed with the Houston Texans to be their safeties coach and is rumored to be on new Tennessee Titans’ coach Mike Vrabel’s short list for defensive coordinator.
As for Downard, not much info is out there on the guy. However, he was a defensive assistant on Pettine’s staff when he was head coach of the Cleveland Browns. He’s spent the last two years at Bowling Green.
The Packers haven’t officially announced any of their coaching hires yet.
