Even though he was fired as the team’s offensive coordinator, we figured Edgar Bennett would return to the Green Bay Packers as the team’s receivers coach. He held that role with the Packers from 2011-14.
The Packers tried to get him back in that role, but Bennett, scorned, wanted to pursue other opportunities. And so he has. He is now the Oakland Raiders’ receivers coach under Jon Gruden.
Hell. Coulda had that job in Green Bay, where he was a somewhat legend. But obviously pissed off over being fired.
So good for Edgar Bennett for getting another job.
The Green Bay Packers’ former quarterbacks coach, Alex Van Pelt, also has found a new job. He has been named the Cincinnati Bengals’ quarterbacks coach.
So everyone wins, right?
From one bay to another. At least the weather is nicer in Oakland. Today’s forecast- lots of sunshine and a zero percent chance of McCarthy. I bet Bennett is really gonna miss that sledding hill. Maybe he can get Mark Davis to build a water slide going into the San Francisco Bay!
It will be very interesting when these former coaches start blasting McCarthy, his entire lack of accountability and the firings based upon HIS shortcomings.
Bad mouthing, or being negative about your past employer will put someone on the fast track to not finding employment, or at the least, the best jobs available. Personally, if i’m recruiting or hiring someone, if they start bad mouthing their old employee, i can’t end the interview quick enough. Even…if what they say is the truth, it’s not a good look.
That was the flag that went up on Bennett when he left the Bears, as i mentioned after Thompson signed him. Ted, outsmarting everyone, signed him anyway, and for big money, with the help of Russ Ball. (Of course).
I’d be interested to know when the Packers will be getting back that signing bonus cash they said they were going after. I’m sure Russ Ball wrote up a contract with the correct language to protect the Packers.
It remains broken, until it isn’t.
