The Green Bay Packers’ defense certainly made an impact in the team’s win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Part of that impact was made by second-year defensive end Dean Lowry.
The 2016 fourth-round pick returned a gift Jameis Winston fumble 62 yards in the second quarter for his first NFL touchdown. On the play, Winston was being pulled down, but still tried to throw. His weak attempted throw just popped into the arms of a waiting Lowry, who was off to the races.
Lowry also had four tackles and a sack on the day. The effort has earned him the NFC defensive player of the week award.
On the season, Lowry has 21 tackles and two sacks. While that production doesn’t look overly impressive, Lowry has clearly made a big leap in his second season and has become a valuable member of the Packers’ defensive front.
His Lambeau Leap still needs some work, though.
