We’ve been critical of Davante Adams in the past, but that kid is playing at a high level this year. He played at a high level last year.
He’s going to get paid and rightfully so. He is the only guy both Aaron Rodgers and Brett Hundley trust. He’s the only receiver performing regardless of who the Green Bay Packers quarterback is.
Although Randall Cobb could be like, hey Brett, throw me a ball and then we’ll see.
But Davante Adams wrote a great piece for The Players’ Tribune about the five best corners he’s faced. That in itself is interesting, but the part we wanted to share was this.
I know it’s been a rough year, an up-and-down year. Losing number 12 was obviously really, really tough. But believe me when I say — I’m confident we can still continue to improve, adjust, grind and win games.
So I wanted to take a second to just say thank you — thank you for continuing to show up for us. Thank you for forgiving us on bad days and supporting us through tough spots. It’s not in the DNA of this team to give up. You’ve always had our back, and it’s one of the things that makes me proudest to be a Green Bay Packer.
As a Packers fan, you know, no one is ever going to stop showing up. Win four games, we’ll still show up… but let’s not only win just four games. Let’s not ever do that.
Davante, despite struggling in his first couple seasons, has come on like gangbusters in his last two. And it doesn’t matter who throws him the ball — although I would assume he would prefer it were AR — he still makes plays.
That kid is going to get paid and he should get paid. The offseason question is at whose expense? Jordy Nelson or Randall Cobb?
The Packers can’t pay three receivers $10 million a year.
Question for another time, though. For now, check this out from Davante Adams.
This is an example of why i wonder if these current writers that live out of state, even watch Packer games, or are even Packer fans to begin with. Especially when i read stupid shit like this from Joseph referring to Davante Adams..
“He is the only guy both Aaron Rodgers and Brett Hundley trust.”
Seriously, wtf dude? Rodgers doesn’t trust Jordy Nelson?
What do you do, read the stat line of the game, then write articles? Are you deaf, dumb and blind?
“He’s the only receiver performing regardless of who the Green Bay Packers quarterback is.” – Joseph
Before Rodgers injury…
Nelson- 6 td’s
Adams- 4 td’s
Joey…The readership here is largely made up of informed Packer fans, don’t insult our intelligence with this stupid shit you write.
Thank you for understanding.
Reading comprehension.. “he’s the only guy BOTH Aaron Rodgers and Brett Hundley trust.” Rodgers may trust Jordy, but he’s been the forgotten man since he went down and Hundley took over.
“He’s the only receiver performing regardless of who the Green Bay Packers quarterback is.” – Joseph
Post Rodgers Injury:
Adams: 3 TDs
Nelson: 0
So yeah, Davante seems to be the only receiver that BOTH Hundley and Rodgers trust, as well as being the only WR to perform no matter who is under center.
“Reading comprehension”! I love it. Piffle whiffed badly on that one. Your correction was perfectly spot on, every sentence, though the first one is my fave.
I gotta say I did think Adam’s numbers were primarily due to very good QB play in a prolific passing offense and even thought people like Jeff Janis were likely better than him in the same role. I’ve come around. He is very good even without Rodgers. Jordy has slowed and what’s-his-face slot guy (Cobb) has been a flash in the pan.
Adams (affectionately persecuted by this site as “Dropvante”) is now the Packers top WR.
If you thought Janis was better than Davante, maybe you should just stop thinking.
Maybe that’s partially why viking fans call you out as a douche.
Gee…is it hard to perform when Hundley is throwing to Nelson at, or behind the line of scrimmage? Is that the new game plan now to utilize a top 5 receiver in the NFL? Is that the new game plan now to utilize a receiver who led the NFL in receiving td’s last season?
In the last 2 games Hundley has connected with Nelson on 8 passes for 28 yards, with a long of 7 yards. Wasn’t Nelson on pace for 16 td’s this season with Rodgers? With Hundley, Nelson has zero td passes in his last 7 games. Because Hundley doesn’t trust Nelson? Seriously?
So…that begs the question, why Nelson’s lack of production? (A) Because Hundley doesn’t trust Nelson? You want to stick with that story? (B) Is it because Hundley doesn’t possess the skills necessary to throw downfield to Nelson? Or, let me guess, (C) Is it because Nelson has lost a step since Rodgers got hurt?
I’m going with B.
Hundley not “trusting” Jordy Nelson is one of the dumbest things i’ve ever read and i’m sticking with my post. Regardless how anyone wants to spin it.
It’s not a matter of trust, it’s a matter of skill set.
NEWSFLASH: Hundley is a failure of an NFL QB.
Explain how Adams has still been effective regardless of who is under center.
Because Hundley has just enough concentration to process one go to target, barely.
Failure.
If I was playing the Hundley ran Packers I would never get out of zone coverage. Hundley has a hard time processing when receivers will come open in zones. Hundley very seldom anticipates those open zones and throws the ball in anticipation of the openings. Hundley waits to long then it is to late. When a outside receiver is in man coverage or a RB is swinging out Hundley does better. I think Hundley even admitted he sees flashes and it makes him hesitate. Jordy has been running a lot of routes in the middle of the field into zones. Hundley has a hard time processing that as there are to many flashes. Adams is on the outside and gets more man or off coverage making it easier for Hundley to process or see pre-snap. With the Packers running game, including Hundley a defense should always be facing the packer offense in coverage. Hundley will make mistakes if he throws. If he doesn’t throw there is no need to turn your back to the offense and run with a receiver. Come up and make the tackle.
Adams used to drop it alot. Now he’s surehanded. Adams always was the most athletic despite the drops. Now that he is surehanded, and still the most athletic, and has been both of them all season, before Rodgers got hurt, Adams has been our best target…outside the red zone. In the Red Zone, Nelson usually was second to none, probably league-wide, but now that the Packers have been able to run well, especially in the red zone with Hundley effective there too, Nelson’s red zone targets and hence TDs have gone down. Nelson therefore may be the most expendable. Especially with Allison coming on. And Cobb has not been effective in the backfield like when he was younger. Love both of them, but Ted keeps drafting receivers instead of what our team needed the most. And he went and got 3 TEs in the offseason, one quit, Bennett, Kendricks does not seem to make big plays, and the Packers never spread the ball between TE snd RB snd WR, so Packers line up on Offense with opposing Defenses only having to defeat either but not all three.
Bad play calling, and bad use of draft on picks that either dont make or dont help team due to play calling and game plan
