The Green Bay Packers are relatively healthy for once, but linebacker Nick Perry — who is key to the team’s pass rush — is listed as questionable.
Without Perry against the Browns, the Packers recorded just two sacks. Perry has been dealing with foot and shoulder injuries. He was a limited participant in practice this week. The Packers will test him on Saturday to determine his status for Sunday.
If Perry can’t go, Clay Matthews should expect plenty of double teams, which is what he got in Cleveland. Although he hasn’t done much, Ahmad Brooks was removed from the injury report, so expect him and Kyler Fackrell to get plenty of snaps if there’s no Perry.
The other questionable players are linebacker Jake Ryan, who has a knee injury, cornerback Demetri Goodson, with a hamstring injury, and tackle Jason Spriggs, with a hip injury.
Spriggs appears set to play.
The only player ruled out was, as expected, cornerback Davon House. Without House, the Packers will start Damarious Randall and Josh Hawkins outside. Morgan Burnett will man the slot and Jermaine Whitehead will play the dime spot.
If Goodson, who tore his ACL about a year ago, can actually play, he may figure into the mix as well. However, he hasn’t played yet this season.
Also removed from the injury report were defensive lineman Quinton Dial and guard Lucas Patrick.
For the Panthers, guard Trai Turner and linebacker Shaq Thompson are out. Receiver Devin Funchess and center Tyler Larsen are questionable.
Nick Perry has been questionable his whole career. But love them 11 sacks….at least he didn’t have much injury history when TT gave him a winning lottery ticket. Oops, i meant, a new deal.
When Nick Perry is the key to your pass rush, you know your fucked.
But on a positive note, those Packer sacks show up against bottom dwelling teams….so we got that going for us. Unfortunately, we don’t play those teams in the playoffs.
Anybody out there have any idea why Goodson was placed on the active roster?
Makes no sense. If he is still injured, he should not be on the 53. A wasted roster spot, or maybe the guy that gets cut when 12 is activated?
Demetri Goodson is a budding superstar in this league, there is no other reason Ted would have kept him around this long otherwise.
We need to have faith in Ted and the “process.”
He could have 3 picks in Super Bowl LII and win MVP Feb. 4th.
