Kenny Clark’s season isn’t over, but the Green Bay Packers’ promising second-year defensive tackle will be sidelined for a number of games.
So who will fill the void?
The probable answer is veteran Quinton Dial. Although Dial missed the two games prior to the Baltimore debacle, he’s been a regular in the defensive line rotation. Against the Ravens, Dial played 25 snaps. He’s played more than 30 snaps in three games this season and has games of 27, 21 and 18, as well.
Dial has 15 tackles on the year.
We’ll likely also be seeing more of rookie Montravius Adams. The third-round pick hasn’t seen much action, with just 29 total snaps on the season. Adams has not registered in the box score this year.
However, the Packers aren’t going to play just three defensive linemen, so Adams will get a shot.
The other obvious possibility is more sub-package looks. The Packers regularly play only two defensive linemen in favor of an additional defensive back.
Of course, the team has been light in that area too. Both cornerback Kevin King and safety Morgan Burnett missed the Baltimore game. Safety Kentrell Brice is on injured reserve.
So this is all shaping up real nice… for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
