What to even say about this. The Green Bay Packers abruptly released tight end Martellus Bennett this week with an undisclosed should injury.
Bennett was then claimed by the New England Patriots, the team that employed him last year.
And why has all this happened? Was Bennett really injured?
That seems like a good question.
Honestly, I now have my doubts. There have been rumors that Bennett wasn’t injured. That he just wanted out of Green Bay since Aaron Rodgers got injured.
Do I give a shit?
Not really. What I can say is this.
If Bennett has a shoulder injury, he’ll sit out. If he doesn’t, he’ll play and then we’ll all know exactly what a gigantic piece of shit he is.
And this is where I will state it again. Martellus Bennett was crap since he signed with Packers. With Aaron Rodgers, without Aaron Rodgers. Crap, regardless.
Couldn’t even average 10 yards per catch.
You want to retire? Maybe you should have retired after last season, gone out on top. Nobody likes to go out as a piece of garbage, do they?
Martellus Bennett is going to go out as a piece of garbage in Green Bay. Maybe going out that way overall.
Nice finish to your career, bro. Way to follow through.
Now he says Dr. McKenzie tried pressuring him to play through injury instead of getting surgery. Jordy Nelson disagrees. Who would I trust, Nelson or the NFL nomad? Duh.. Doesn’t look like he’s concerned about surgery anymore now that he’s in New England. What a pile of shit. Someone should make a “highlight reel” of all Bennetts catches and drops with the Packers just for a good laugh.
It’s going to be hard to find the truth. Nelson and Leroy Butler are defending Dr. McKenzie, but it looks as if guys are indeed let play before they are fully healed. Eddie Lacy’s ankle is the first one that comes to mind. Cobb’s shoulder a couple of years back, maybe. And that myriad of hamstring or groin injuries, it is likely that some of those are in fact re-aggravated injuries.
Add in some misdiagnosed injuries (by negligence or on purpose). This reminds me of a sketch on which the comedians were enacting the head coach of a team giving a press conference. One of the journalists asks about the injury case of one of the players. The HC proceeds to explain that they performed all kinds of studies on him, x-rays, MRIs, antagonistic muscle groups stress analysis, what have you. The case became complicated so they involved some foreign sports medicine experts. And after the lengthy series of studies they concluded that what the player was missing was actually a leg. The journalist promptly asks: “the right leg or the left leg?”. After hesitating for a brief moment, the HC replies “at this point it is too soon to be certain about that”.
Packers should reach out to Colt Lyerla, he could be a great starting TE.
I get why the Packers would not want to keep him, but why did the front office let this fester through the past week and then cut him and get nothing instead of trading him for at least a 7th rounder the week before? I find it hard to believe they didn’t know what the deal was prior to the trade deadline. He is more talented than 90% of the TEs in the league. If you couldn’t find a trading partner now put him on IR and trade him in the off season. Seems stupid to just cut him loose and get nothing at all.
I’m ready for a moratorium on Marty-news for a long time to come. Sick of hearing about and reading about this selfish-@ss POS for a long time now. For sure there are many lessons to be learned from this but really, let’s be done with him.
It is sad that he wore a Packer uniform for almost a half year. Imagine if some fans actually went out and spent some hard earned coin to buy one of those rags and they’re stuck with that now. That con-job got to wear the same number as Donald Driver. Imagine how chumped Aaron Rodgers feels after getting all down with the Bennett family struggles and tribulations. A dude who doesn’t seem to even want to be in the same zip code as his own family.
Now on his way out of town he runs the doctor’s good name through the mud. Good riddance you epic POS.
I posted he was a p o s weeks and weeks ago. I’m not going to sit here and brag that most everything i’ve written in the past, even years ago, comes to fruition and suddenly everyone is saying now what i’ve been saying all along. My humility doesn’t allow that.
So i’m just not even going to bring it up.
