Martellus Bennett will not be getting the happy ending he was looking for. That’s fitting as far as we are concerned.
After quitting on the Green Bay Packers after Aaron Rodgers went down, Bennett was waived with a phantom shoulder injury. He was claimed by the New England Patriots. He has played in two games for the team despite his “shoulder injury.”
He had six catches for 53 yards.
And that’s all he’ll be having. The Patriots placed Bennett on injured reserve on Monday. The reasons cited were hamstring and shoulder injuries.
Amazing that he was able to play in two games though, huh?
Bennett claimed he was retiring after the season while he was still with the Packers. So it’s possible this is the end of the line. However, if Bennett did return for 2018, the Patriots would have his rights. They also have the contract the Packers gave him. That will be worth $6.45 million next year.
At this point, Bennett won’t be raking in that sort of money from any team. He simply isn’t worth it.
Idk…Fairy tale ending?
If the Patriots win the Super Bowl won’t he get a ring? Maybe he’s not worried about that idk, maybe he’s busy counting the 7 million plus the Packers have paid him.
So what happened to the Packers recovering the signing bonus money they talked tough about? Heard nothing about it since. My guess is their attorneys said they didn’t have a case.
Bennett made the Packer organization look like the fools they are. They should have stuffed him on the Commisioners list instead of releasing him.
Move on people! Next story please.
Way to go Ted….you get Jared Cook off the scrap heap, he shows he can play when someone other than a 3rd string QB is throwing him the ball. Let him walk and then give more money to this malcontent that quits. Most people who suck at their job year after year after year (infinity) don’t have a job anymore. Everyone that is except Ted and Mr. Highly Successful.
And Marvin Lewis of course, how in the hell is that guy still a head coach?
