Besides the offensive tackle position, which has been decimated by injuries, the Green Bay Packers actually appear to be getting healthy.
On Tuesday, the Packers had the following players back on the practice field: receiver Randall Cobb, outside linebacker Nick Perry, inside linebacker Jake Ryan and safety Kentrell Brice. All four missed the Cincinnati game. All were full participants on Tuesday.
Perry returned with a club on his hand after having surgery last week. Perry also wore a club last year after injuring his hand. However, it didn’t seem to hinder him, as he played well despite the handicap.
Two players hurt during the Bengals game, running back Ty Montgomery and defensive lineman Quinton Dial, were also full participants.
The tackle situation remains a little clouded. Both David Bakhtiari and Bryan Bulaga, along with defensive lineman Mike Daniels, were limited participants. Bakhtiari and Daniels didn’t play against the Bengals. Bulaga did, but left after aggravating his ankle injury late in the game.
The good news is, none of them have been ruled out yet.
The only player who didn’t practice for the Packers was cornerback Davon House, who continues to deal with a quad injury.
We were arrogant & felt we could beat the Bengals at home without risking any injured guys further. Unfortunately Bulaga was injured further. But we barely won with a TON of injured starters whom we count on.
We sat several guys simply because the Thursday night game is so brutal in week 4… Good news is, we have a 10-day layoff. So the good news is, it’s kinda like a “mini-bye”. Our next game is October 8 which gives us rest & 10 days prep for the Cowboys. & the Packers LOVE playing in Dallas.
We’re pushing our chips in now because here is our next 4 games…. Chicago, Dallas, Minny & New Orleans.
2 divisional & 2 conference games. & we could be playing Dallas or Minny again in January.
The way we are looking right now, we could be 2 wins and 2 loses after those next four games. The team and especially MM appear very out of sync at times. it will be very interesting to see which team shows up for each game. I am trusting that the “well prepared and healthy” team shows up.
Tackle position is going to kill this team this season. Remember when Barclay and Newhouse came in as backups? How did that work out for the Packers? Now they will have nobodies at tackle. I don’t think the Packers will win an away game and will only win a few home games until Bulaga and Bakhtiari are healthy.
As I predicted 8/23/17: “I have a feeling offensive line is going to be an issue this year.”
