The Green Bay Packers re-signed defensive lineman Ricky Jean Francois on Wednesday, a week after releasing him. We knew there would need to be a roster casualty and now we know who that is.
It’s backup tackle Jason Spriggs.
The Packers moved Spriggs to injured reserve to make way for Francois.
The #Packers OL took a depth hit, with swing tackle Jason Spriggs being placed on IR to make room for Ricky Jean Francois

Personally, I find Spriggs’ situation humorous. The 2016 second-round draft pick was TERRIBLE during the preseason. I mean, so bad that if he weren’t a second-round pick, he likely wouldn’t have made the roster.
Spriggs goes in to block for a field goal in week 1 and gets injured on his first and only play. What was injured? Why, the injury the Green Bay Packers are famous for — the hamstring!
What else?!
It’s doubtful this is a season-ending injury, but Spriggs was going to be out multiple weeks. The Packers can use one of their designated to return options on Spriggs if they so choose in eight weeks.
The tackle situation is tentative for the Packers, of course. Left tackle David Bakhtiari still isn’t practicing (with a hamstring injury, of course), but right tackle Bryan Bulaga has returned to action. We expect Bulaga to play this week, with Kyle Murphy manning the other tackle spot.
The backups then, are Justin McCray, who started last week, and Adam Pankey, who was brought up off the practice squad last week.
Well fuck me Tracy Wolfson
If the Packers lose Bahktiari for the rest of the season, then lose Bulaga for the season, and then lose Murphy for the rest of the season, they will almost be as bad off as the Vikings were at OT last year. Even so Sam Bradford’s QB rating was just a few points shy of what Rodgers achieved. If the Packers lose all those OTs by Game 4 I’d bet you Rodgers’ rating does not reach 2016 Bradford levels.
Spriggs is a piece of shit…I can’t think of any other players (besides Ryan Leaf) mailing it in after signing their rookie contract
