Things may be going downhill for running back Eddie Lacy in Seattle. However, we will always like Eddie Lacy.
He played well for the Green Bay Packers. And he played well for them even when he was overweight. We felt bad for him when coach Mike McCarthy publicly called him out for being fat following the 2015 season. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black…
Since this all became an issue, Lacy has been constantly barraged with fat jokes and fat shaming on social media. Still today, every time Lacy posts something, someone will make a fat crack.
We assume that must be annoying, if not hurtful.
Lacy told ESPN that it is.
“I could pull up my Twitter right now and there would be a fat comment in there somewhere,” he says. “Like I could tweet, ‘Today is a beautiful day!’ and someone would be like, ‘Oh yeah? You fat.’ I sit there and wonder: ‘What do you get out of that?'”
“You just can’t shake it,” he says. “And no matter what, you can’t say nothing back to them. You just have to read it, get mad or however it makes you feel, and move on. I could be 225 and they’d still be like, ‘You’re still a fat piece of s — .'”
That sucks.
It’s also not funny.
Knock it off, you fucking dickwads.
Even though Lacy’s weight hasn’t been an issue in Seattle, he still hasn’t made an impact. In week 1 against the Packers, Lacy ran five times for three yards. That’s his line so far on the season, since he was a healthy scratch in week 2.
Rookie Chris Carson seems to have staked a claim to the Hawks’ No. 1 running back job. Thomas Rawls appears to be second in line. The team also has C.J. Prosise, who has been active both weeks, although he didn’t carry the ball in week 2.
Despite all that, the Seahawks still say Lacy is in their plans. Unfortunately, barring injuries, we don’t see him getting many carries.
Hopefully, Lacy eventually finds a place where he can be the guy because we still love to see him run.
