The Green Bay Packers brought former San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks in for a visit this week. Needing outside linebacker depth, the former Pro Bowler would have been an obvious and welcome addition.
However, Brooks has left Green Bay without a deal. The Packers reportedly offered one, but Brooks clearly hasn’t signed it.
From Demovsky: Packers hope to sign Ahmad Brooks but he’s no longer in town, I’m told. Unclear if he has other visits or is just pondering an offer at this point.
That’s not a good sign. It has been reported that Brooks was also drawing interest from the Denver Broncos. We would expect him to be able to get other offers he wants them.
If we were speculating, we’d have to think Brooks didn’t like what the Packers offered. If he did, why wouldn’t he have signed it?
Typically, when a free agent leaves town after getting an offer, he doesn’t come back.
We’d be surprised if it went differently in this case.
