Both designations were expected, but the Green Bay Packers made it official on Thursday. Rookie linebacker Vince Biegel and veteran cornerback Demetri Goodson began training camp on the physically unable to perform list.
Biegel had foot surgery in May and Goodson tore his ACL last November.
Of the two, Biegel is likely to get on the field first. Packers coach Mike McCarthy suggested Biegel may return in a couple weeks.
Goodson’s recovery may go into the season.
And while we know Biegel will be on the Packers’ roster, Goodson’s future isn’t as clear. The Packers seemingly have plenty of depth at cornerback this year. If Goodson were healthy, he’d likely have a tough time making the team. An injury designation might be his best bet for sticking around this year.
