Despite what the NFL and their officially-licensed merchandise says, the Green Bay Packers were not formed in 1921. You and every logical person knows the Packers were formed in 1919. The NFL cites 1921 because that’s when the Packers joined the American Professional Football Association, which later became the NFL.
Why does the NFL ignore the first two years the Packers played professional football? Sheer arrogance or sheer stupidity would be our guess.
Fortunately, the Green Bay Packers know when their own organization was formed and 100 years of Packers football is just over the horizon.
Team president Mark Murphy says the organization has a series of celebrations planned for 2018, the team’s 100th season.
“We will soon announce our specific plans, so I can’t get into details, but I can tell you that we will have celebrations throughout the entire 2018 season, our 100th season. We will have a special celebration on August 11, 2019, our 100th birthday,” Murphy said in his monthly column.
What does that mean? Well, Ginger Gap Tooth isn’t telling, so we’ll have to wait and see.
However, one thing that you can bet on is this — there will be plenty of overpriced merchandise you can dump your hard-earned money on.
Still in the planning stages, of course. You’ll have to wait for the details.
Will it have a terrible looking logo for the number 100 that resembles a limp cock and balls to go with the underwhelming Titletown logo?
I’ll start saving now.
