We — and many others — have long speculated about who might replace Ted Thompson as the Green Bay Packers general manger. Kansas City Chiefs general manager John Dorsey has beenc near the top of that list.
The Packers can go ahead and make that move now. The Chiefs surprisingly fired Dorsey on Thursday, just after announcing a contract extension for coach Andy Reid.
Let’s speculate!
There are already rumors that there was a power struggle between Reid and Dorsey. If that’s the case, Dorsey obviously lost.
Someone must have told Andy the prize was the last donut.
There have also been consistent rumors that Dorsey would ultimately leave the Chiefs to succeed Thompson in Green Bay. Dorsey both played for the Packers and worked in their front office. Earlier this offseason, Dorsey reportedly had a contract extension on the table, but hadn’t signed it.
It’s quite possible the Chiefs got sick of the uncertainty surrounding Dorsey and decided to move on.
As it is, Dorsey is out with one year left on his current contract. He can do nothing for a year and collect that paycheck.
Who wants to pitch in for bus ticket the hell outta town for Big Ted?
As we have documented, Thompson appears to be losing it. The Packers can feel free to force him into retirement any day now.
