The NFLPA’s annual Rookie Premiere event is happening this weekend in Los Angeles. Running back Jamaal Williams is the only member of the Packers’ draft class who is there.
And boy, does he look like a clown in the group photo.

Now, I’m sure the eyes closed, looking upwards pose wasn’t on purpose. You can see No. 7 on the Browns in the back row has his eyes closed too. No. 19, immediately to Williams’ right is struggling.
Hey, it’s been hot and sunny in Los Angeles this week. You’d think they could have shot this photo so that everyone wasn’t staring directly into the sun…
Anyway, look what else.
Williams is wearing No. 30, notably worn by the Packers’ all-time leading rusher Ahman Green during his first stint with the team.
Those are some big shoes to fill.

Ahman Green was an amazing player, all-time leading team rusher with 8,322 yards.
Interestingly, he broke Jim Taylor’s record wearing #34 returning to GB in 2009 after a two-year absence.
Long before Green there was Chuck Mercein – only spending short time with GB.
He joined the team mid 67 season from the NYG. That #30 was instrumental in the game-winning 12-play, 68-yard touchdown drive in the “Ice Bowl” accounting for half the yardage.
But bigger yet was his role in the winning TD. When Mercein pushed his way towards the endzone, realizing Bart Starr was gonna keep the ball he pulled his arms up to avoid what woulda been a disastrous, possibly game deciding pushing penalty.
