When the Green Bay Packers drafted BYU running back Jamaal Williams, we noted that he had some off-the-field issues. Williams was suspended for breaking rules and then sat out all of the 2015 season.
What was his problem?
Girls.
“I had a girl in my room,” Williams said when asked about the infractions.
“Honestly it’s your responsibility for breaking the honor code, because they tell you the rules,” Williams said. “If you don’t [listen], then that’s your fault. So I was mad, but at the same time I just had to grow up and understand [the] consequences.”
BYU has a strict code of conduct. Having a member of the opposite sex in your room can actually get you into trouble.
It’s amazing that Jim McMahon played there and managed to stay in school.
Williams said most teams laughed when he told them about the infractions. The Green Bay Packers obviously don’t have an issue with something so minor.
Now Williams will get a chance to compete with Ty Montgomery and two other rookies for what will likely be sparse carries this season.
