I mean, that might be stating the obvious, but if you thought Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson was a weird dude before, this will up the ante.

I don’t even feel the need to comment. Just watch.

Have you ever seen anyone clap like that? Is he being operated via remote control?

His recent press conferences definitely suggest something is amiss.

Mike Mayock is a fool. Good job on your mock draft Mr. NFL draft expert.

As a Packer fan, all we can hope for is history doesn’t repeat itself, and that these draft picks develop into playmakers at the NFL level. But…according to recent history, on the surface, that seems like fools gold.

In draft and develop, it seems that keeping your drafted players is Job 1. But lets look at 3 draft classes from 20011-2013 and see what developed from these defensive picks. It’s worth noting….that when Ted gets in front of the camera, he beams with pride that the Packers resign and keep their own. But reality tells us a far different story……….

The 2011-13 draft class brought us 15 defensive players picked. Of those 15 players, two of them…yes two, have been with the team since being drafted by Ted Thompson. These 2 players in my humble opinion, are overpaid based on production. Here’s why…..

Nick Perry….one productive season in 5, yields him 11.8 million a year. Yes, we’d love Perry to be a consistent playmaker year in and year out. but for right now, Ted cashed out Perry’s winning lottery ticket.

Mike Daniels…4 years, 41 million…..here’s the problem. His played regressed since Ted cashed out his lottery ticket late in Dec. 2015. Again, i’m not down on him, us Packer fans would love him to produce every season. But reality is reality, he regressed. Yes, we all love his bravado and tough talk. But for over 10 mill a year, your play on the field needs to speak louder than the words from your mouth.

Side note: Out of Daniels 41 million dollar deal which runs through 2019. He’s already received 22.5 million of it, over 1/2 his contract in 15 months. For that we got 4 sacks, 0 forced fumbles, and 33 tackles and disappeared in 3 playoff games.

Besides the money aspect of it, which i personally find incredibly ludicrous for the amount of production, the bigger story is the essence of “draft and develop”, keeping your own. When in 3 drafts, out of 15 defensive players, Ted kept 2 of them. Ted kept 13% of his def. draft picks over 3 years in a draft and develop philosophy.
Does that make any fucking sense whatsoever?

I’m not saying Ted isn’t trying to draft and develop. What i am saying is that he is a complete failure at achieving it. Which leads me to believe that Mark Murphy doesn’t have a clue what draft and develop means. but then again, it’s also my contention, that Mark Murphy doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing, and that he’s in way over his head.

    I’ll repeat myself again.

This team is broken, from the top down.

Daniels is the best defensive lineman on the Packers. He is irreplaceable.

So , that means he can’t be overpaid?

6th round pick has no height, weight, grade or even bio on NFL.com. Think that one is an obscure pick?
C’mon, try Dimick DL or Myrick CB- or maybe TT is a visionary.

TT and the word “visionary” should never be used in the same sentence…

Who cares? His time in GB is almost coming to an end, and it’s likely Eliot Wolf takes over.
