Well, we sat here for how many hours to wait for the Green Bay Packers to make their first-round pick and… they traded the damn thing to the Cleveland Browns.
They did so while the Dallas Cowboys were on the clock at No. 28, one pick before the Packers were originally scheduled to pick.
The Packers move back four spots, picking up the Browns’ second-round pick (No. 33 overall, the first pick of the round) and they add a fourth-round pick (No. 108).
Perhaps that was a sign that the Packers were after LSU cornerback Tre’Davious White, who was chosen at No. 27 by the Buffalo Bills.
Perhaps it’s a sign that the Packers feel like they’ll get their guy — or a comparable guy — in the second round and just want to stockpile picks.
Maybe a combination of both, but surely we will be told that whoever the Packers take with their first pick, that he was the best player available.
This isn’t out of the norm for Packers general manager Ted Thompson. He’s actually made many trades during the draft. He’s traded out of the first round just once before, however. That was 2008, when he moved pick No. 30 to the New York Jets for No. 36 and a swap of fourth-round picks — the Packers got No. 102 for No. 113.
As lackluster as that trade (and this one) might sound. The Packers did get receiver Jordy Nelson with that No. 36 in 2008.
Unfortunately, if the Packers wanted Wisconsin outside linebacker T.J. Watt, as was rumored, they’ve been foiled. He went to Pittsburgh at No. 30.
So, we will have to wait until pick one of day two for the Green Bay Packers to actually add a new player.
Oh my god Ted, eat a mile of dick.
only explanation is that their pick got snapped up before they could pick, and it was a better move to cop a second round pick from the browns. if history has told me anything is that the browns rarely know what they are doing, so this isn’t a cause for alarm.
Well… yes, at a given moment they showed all the Browns’ draft picks from the last ten years. Invariably bust after bust after bust. Even flipping up a coin can yield better results. The owner should do the following: ask his scouting department who they are going to select, then NOT select that guy and pick randomly from the rest of the available players. Also, make a few trades, so it looks like they know what they are doing.
lol this is such an accurate description of them, I wonder are you a front office insider
Well Watt was on the board until the 30th pick. But I guess this gives the walking dead TT to pick 9 failures instead of 8. What a fluster cluck.
Watt would be sporting green and gold right now if Teddy hadn’t traded down…
Steelers won the friggin lottery, maybe it was a gift from GB for Rooneys passing.
Foster and Cook gone also….
Watch him take girlfriend beater or an OG (Lamp)…. same old crap
Read up on what other team’s scouts say about Watt, most say not first round talent. WI people saw him a lot so love him and his name. If Ted does not pick King then it is time to revolt, a senior with 4.4 speed. I’ll go buy my pitchfork and meet you there. Every time Teddy trades down he wins. Plus he got the first pick of the 4th round along with it, that’s like a 3rd rounder for GB as low as they normally pick.
We needed a linebacker an you let TJ Watts go to Pittsburgh real smart
Maybe old TT will trade all the picks away so he can say he won’t have any draft bust in 2017. Collect all them picks for 2018 so he can at least pick one who is not a bust.
Ted won’t be here much longer.
What a fucking asshole this dick licking freak is….instead of moving up to help fix their piece of shit linebacker or CB group, he’s too busy taking it in the ass as always as everyone improves, but us. When the fuck will they ride this mental case out of town?
Somebody tell that fuck to drink his kool-aid and die finally
Jesus guys settle the fuck down. He moved down four whole spots. This sets the stage for him to pick Kevin King. At least I would support him if that is what he is doing. I will wait and bitch when I see what he leads off with tomorrow
Hope you’re right K.

Yeah, me too. I think if you trust Teez Tabor’s tape and he is faster than his 40 time and plays faster, it would be a good play here as well. This wasnt a bad move by the packers, but you have to get the right player now at 33. I don’t trust Ted to do so, but I will at least wait for the pick before I lose my collective shit
Bingo, all these drunk armchair GMs. Look how many Super Bowls JJ Watt has. They need corners and there are good ones to pick.
I really hope there is a very good reason for this trade back. We can get Mixon and another guy.
But… why didn’t he address our crappy defense??? I liked the profile of that guy Takkarist McKinley.
Looked like a don’t-quit-under-any-circumstances type of guy. We was snatched by the Falcons not
far ahead of us. Couldn’t Ted have traded to secure this guy? He could have even stayed to get TJ Watt!! But no… Two wasted opportunities to get a good OLB (and not a converted 4-3 DE prospect) with good possibilities for the future. But no worries! Now we can get two guys that are going to be “OK rotational players”. But wait… we have a lot of those! We now need difference makers.
I re
Takkarist McKinley got an incomplete on his wonderlic test. Reports are it took him the full 12 minutes to spell his own name right.
Can’t have another first round bust if you don’t have a first round pick…. (Insert picture of Eddie Murphy pointing to his forehead acting smart)
That ^^^^
Someone or a few players are dropping that the Packers and Seattle think they will still get. Seattle does not appear concerned that the Packers might take their guy. Seattle needs offensive line.
Would TT take a chance on another 2nd round D lineman out of Michigan State (McDowell) to convert to a elephant? Peppers and Jones are gone.
TT may make one more trade with the Jags as I think they need Oline and they may want to jump Seattle.
I would prefer TT draft a press corner at this point, but not sure TT will admit a mistake(s) and make his first pick a corner. One thing for sure TT is probably receiving some calls to trade pick 33.
If TT trades out of the first round so he can use his first pick on another conversion project I will lose my shit so fucking bad. Not to mention it sounds like the most TT move ever, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it did happen. If it does, I give up.
TJ Watt better be just a guy because TJ Watt was there for the taking!
And so was Reuben Foster..
Kevin King, CB, Washington is still there & that’s my pick. Do it, Ted
This trade could be a disaster and it could be brilliant. A trade back from, say, 28 to 32 in the first round in exchange for a 4th is fair value. That would be fine or even good. But… that is not what happened. It was a move down from 29 to 33.
So what? I will tell you.
Option year, my friend, option year. If TT now makes a crappy pick you can take heart because that option year would not have been exercised. Congrats then on the no regrets crappy pick! But, if TT accidentally selects a good or great player then after four years they are free to sign wherever or, if resigned, need to be paid more than otherwise would be the case.
So, just to recap, TT did not just trade down 4 spots. He gave away the whole option year thing. Even if — and I’m sure he will — TT claims they selected the exact same player they would have at #29 — there are still negative consequences…. if the pick is not a fail.
There are lots of great players still available and many even at positions of need. King, Tankerley, Cunningham, Lamp, Awuzie, Mixon, Jordan Willis.
But, how could this move back be brilliant? Another trade back, friend. Overnight teams plot and aspire and target and bargain and compete. Top of round 2 gets a lot of offers. That one player another team never thought would be there and just can’t live without. TT could slide back 7 spots, pick up another 3rd, and still get one of the players I listed. At that point he has still lost the 5th year option but could claim he would have taken that player anyway and also picked up a 4th and a 3rd. Then all would depend on whether he wasted those picks or not.
Other than than the 7 players I listed there are 9 more players as good or better but who play positions not in demand by the Packers. They are:
OT Cam Robinson
TE Bucky Hodges
SS Josh Jones
FS Obi Melifonwu
WR Curtis Samuel
WR Zay Jones
DT Carlos Watkins
DT Malik McDowell
DL DeMarcus Walker
Other very intriguing high value players include:
FS Budda Baker
OG Dan Feeney
DL Chris Wormley
RB D’Onta Foreman
QB Davis Webb
RB Alvin Kamara
RB Dalvin Cook
SS Marcus Maye
OG Dion Dawkins
OT Antonio Garcia
OC Ethan Pocic
Killer you are so pathetic, it is impossible to measure what an idiot you are with your posts on an opposing team forum. Just so you know most GB fans do not even know the name of the Minnesota GM and have no opinion on who those purple fucks select. Take your 5th year option opinion, wrap it in something purple, put it in your pocket and go jump off the top of that glass shit house. I’m sure nobody will miss you.
It sounds like you are proud of your ignorance. Just as I suspected!
