Packers Among Most Interested In Joe Mixon

This should come as no surprise if you’ve been following along. The Green Bay Packers are reportedly one of four teams most interested in Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon.

Mixon, as you surely know, is probably as well known for punching a woman back in 2014 as he is for playing football. There’s undeniably plenty of football talent, however.

Some people believe Mixon is the most talented back in the draft. He’s also settled all legal matters related to the incident and has personally apologized. While some teams won’t be looking past the punch, the Packers are clearly not one of them.

The Packers raved about Mixon during his pro day. There has been intense interest reported since.

Green Bay is obviously interested in adding another running back, with Ty Montgomery really the only proven commodity on the roster. They have bigger needs on the defensive side of the ball, however. Using a first-round pick on a running back — especially on a team with a coach who doesn’t value the position — seems foolish.

The unknown, of course, is where will Mixon get drafted. He was once considered a sure-fire first rounder. Now, there’s talk of him slipping into the second.

If he’s around when the Packers are on the clock in the second round, I expect them to be unable to pass.

If they were interested we wouldn’t know about it. Tell me when the Packers drafted Clay Matthews how many people predicted we trade up to get him? Packers got Charles Woodson. Did anyone see that coming at all? No. What about Julius Peppers? Nope. Up Is Down. Black is white.

This wouldn’t surprise me one bit. Regardless of whether you are a Packers fan or not, it is ridiculous how many of their players are getting in trouble on and off the field. Mixon would fit in perfectly with this group. This is what the Packers have become, like it or not. However, if Mixon ends up in GB, people will be satisfied. He is a great talent, just an awful person.

A one time mistake doesn’t make you an awful person. That is just my opinion. Now if he has done it a couple times I would think differently. As far I can tell and researched, he hasn’t had any other run-ins.

This is a non story if they try to wait until the second round. No way he’s available then.
All the teams that say he is off their board are liars if the value is too good to pass up. He catches the ball like a receiver and runs away from the defense. So he hits women…he apologized… they will say. Anyone can justify anything, it’s not a lie if you believe it. Everyone is a hypocrite who wants to win games.

It’s football we are talking about. A lot of the players are going to be on the violent side, it is part of their nature. This guy has let it escape outside the field, and against a lady. I don’t think that by showing interest in this guy teams are condoning violence against women. He made a terrible mistake, but as long as he doesn’t repeat it, teams are going to be fine. And so far, he has not done it again, has he?
