We all remember Aaron Rodgers’ run-the-table statement when the Green Bay Packers were sitting at 4-6 in 2016.
He said it during a press conference following the team’s loss to Washington. It will go down in Packers’ lore, as the team ran off six straight to finish 10-6 and win the NFC North.
Didn’t quite have the same resonance in the locker room as it did with fans and media though. Packers defensive end Mike Daniels was on Good Morning Football earlier in the week and he was asked if the team hung their hat on the statement.
Daniels admitted it had nothing to do with how the Packers finished.
“I had no idea he said it until like two games in and they said, “Oh, wow, they’re really going to run the table!” I said, “What are they talking about?” People kept asking me, “So did you guys really hang your hats on that?” I was like, “No.” We just went out there and played. Your pride as a competitor… you’re not looking for a soundbite, quotes or a rah-rah speech. If you need that, go home. You’re in the wrong business.”
Here’s the full interview.
Thanks to @Packers DL @Mike_Daniels76 for joining us! He discussed the team, Adrian Peterson & much more #GMFB https://t.co/npbLcqhASp

…..you’re not looking for a soundbite, quotes or a rah-rah speech. If you need that, go home. You’re in the wrong business.” – Mike Daniels
When asked about the Falcons offensive plans against the Packers defense…..
“Everyone has a plan, until they get hit in the mouth” – Mike Daniel
Well, we know how the Falcons offense did, so my only response is that i think Daniels should just stfu and play, trying to earn that fat contract he signed.
Add another on the list of overpayed, and underperforming. His production per stats since 2014 is pointing south.
Funny this is coming from the biggest rah rah guy on the team known to rub teammates the wrong way for his ruhrahiness.
Good. I hate that phrase. Just another stupid media sensation that was blown up to ridiculous proportions and repeated a nauseum. They didn’t truly “run the table” anyway because they sodomized by the Falcons with two games left.
Rodgers said run the table, for the rest of the regular season i believe. Nonetheless winning 8 games after being 4-6 with that defense, is fairly impressive.
Winning any games with that defense is pretty impressive.
It maybe impressive, but it meant dick in terms of the big picture. Just like how you wanted them to miss the playoffs because you knew they weren’t going to win it all and change wasn’t going to be made if they did make it.
Packers did well to win all those consecutive games but anyone who thinks Aaron KNEW it would happen or that it happened BECAUSE Aaron said it would… well, just ridiculous.
Kind of like when queen fans were gloating about how great the odds are of their Queen’s getting into the playoffs and SB when they were 4-0, and 5-0.
But then……something happened….reality reared it’s ugly viking head (again). lmao….Silly Queen fans,,,God bless those losers.
