The obvious. If he weren’t asking for so damn much money.
First we heard the Green Bay Packers had some interest in former Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, depending on the outcome of the draft. Then we heard his price was too high.
Now Jason Cole says the Packers would have “strong” interest in Peterson if his asking price went down.
And that’s what we already assumed.
Just as important here is how Peterson would fit with the Packers. Plenty of people think he wouldn’t fit. The refrain is always the same — he’s not a good blocker and he’s not a good receiver.
I’ve always held onto the notion that if you find a good player, you put him in a position to succeed. Clearly, if the Packers are interested at all — and they are — they have determined that they could find a way to make Peterson effective.
I would also point out, it isn’t as if they’re going to be handing Peterson the ball 25 times a game like the Vikings did. The Packers don’t hand anyone the ball that often and, what’s more, Peterson would be in a timeshare with Ty Montgomery, who is an exceptional receiver.
The clincher in Cole’s report is this: Green Bay would be happy to have a motivated Peterson in facing Minnesota twice a year.
And I say this. Anything we can do to stick it to the dirtbag Minnesota Vikings should be out of principle, regardless of cost.
Fuck A P.
So…what we need is another back that can’t block?
He’s not a good receiver.
He’s too expensive. And i’m not even sure why we give a fuck about the vikings, who the fuck are they? You have a POS team that can’t get to the playoffs, even after starting 6-0, and 5-0. who cares about those bottom dwellers? We have larger goals than sticking it to some loser team…don’t we?
If there is even a need to stick it to the vikings. Beat them twice a year!!
Or….if that’s not satisfying enough…..How about…and i’m just spit balling here….how about, we take that 6 or 7 million, and try to upgrade our own defense!!??
Maybe…..maybe even get to a Super Bowl.
That to me, would be sticking it to the vikings.
Not signing that fucking reject.
I’m with you. No AP. Yes it would be sticking it to the Vikings celebrating a Lombardi in their stadium.
Hes washed up. Makes no sense at all. Draft a young back to pair with Montgomery.
So…i just started watching interviews of Murphy, Ted and Mike, from the league meetings, i just started an interview with Ted…here’s the beginning…..
Reporter: Is there a replacement for Lang on the roster….
Ted: (interrupts reporter)…Starts to laugh….” I wish we could look into ah.. silver..ah…something…and ah…see what the future holds there, but…we’ll just let it work itself out.”…I think what Ted was trying to spit out is crystal ball.
So, i guess that shit just works itself out….according to Ted.
Reporter: You’ve drafted 5 players #1 the last 5 years…
Ted: interrupts…smiles…”Did we?..Oh my gosh” After cutting through Ted’s mumbling he goes on to say with a straight face….”I wasn’t aware that we drafted..ah..that many defensive players, so obviously it doesn’t mean very much to us.”
Lastly, when asked about A P. Ted laughed it off saying “We don’t talk about other players that are not on this team, never have, never will.”
Well, apparently Mike McCarthy didn’t get that memo.
The reason i bring this all up…and i know Ted isn’t drinking…but he talks as if he’s slammed down a few, little slurred speech, Doesn’t quite know how to say what his mind is trying to convey (its called look into a crystal ball Ted), not a look into a “silver..ah..something. He has troubling recalling events, like what season they won the Super Bowl, and his last 5 1st round picks were defensive players.
Am i the only one seeing this dude his losing his mental faculties? I’m being dead serious about this….wtf?
TT did play in the NFL for 10 years when a concussion was just getting your bell rung or seeing stars. Practices were a lot longer and harder hitting. Plus TT was probably getting ran over by Earl Campbell on a daily basis, let alone being blocked by guys like Mike Munchak, Dave Casper, and Bruce Matthews just in practice. Those hits from long ago could be having an effect?
Well, maybe that was it, or maybe he tripped on his shoelaces and took header, or he’s just old. But at some point, somebody has to tell him enough’s enough.
I can’t say for sure, but i’m guessing to be a GM in the NFL, you should be on top of your game.
Agreed that TT has to go, but if not the spineless Mark Murphy, who is going to the one to tell Ted that his services are no longer needed? Are the old fogies on the Packer Board of Directors (many of whom probably play golf with TT on a regular basis) going to take a vote on whether Thompson should stay or go? You see, this is one of the drawbacks of being the only non-profit publicly-owned franchises in all of American professional sports. All too often, you have to wonder who is at the controls. While the Packers unique form of ownership has certainly always given this organization it’s distinct charm as well as a source of pride for us Packer fans, any billionaire owner for any of the 31 other NFL teams would have shown Ted Thompson the door long ago.
Yes sir!!….therein lies the real problem.
The Packers had Schneider, McKenzie, and Dorsey the last time they had a spectacular draft. Firing Thompson isn’t going to solve that.
So keeping him will?
This ^^^^
This was for DEEPSKY. I agree with his assessment about why the drafts have been sucking. But keeping TT will only protract this GM nightmare . . .
AH NO….This^^^^^…Should have been for my comment.
I don’t get enough “This^^^^’s from you…pal. I’m afraid sooner or later you and i are gonna have to meet up and throw down, if this shit show of disrespect continues.
I don’t think you want a piece of me my friend…., just sayin.
AP is the exact opposite of everything this franchise holds near and dear to their heart. If they sign AP at any number, I won’t watch a game this season.
Fuck AP and MM for gargling his balls in the press.
