We heard it wasn’t going to happen, but it happened anyway. The Green Bay Packers have signed cornerback Davon House.
CB Davon House has agreed to one-year deal with the #Packers, according to a source.

The deal is for a modest $3.5 million.
I’d tell you there’s your replacement for Micah Hyde. That’s how a lot of fans will view it. However, in my mind, signing House actually improves the Packers’ secondary more so than bringing back Hyde would have.
Despite a wasted 2016 season, when House didn’t even play 300 snaps for the Jacksonville Jaguars, the guy was pretty damn good in coverage in 2015. House knocked down 23 passes that year and shut down some of the better receivers in the league.
Is this the No. 1 cornerback we’ve been clamoring for?
Not exactly, but House — unlike Hyde — is good on the outside. He has the build, strength and enough speed to play out there and be successful.
Hyde, as much as we liked him, wasn’t fast enough to play outside.
And as I always like to mention in these situations, because House was cut by the Jaguars, he won’t count against the Packers’ compensatory draft pick scenario. And believe you me, the Packers are going to cash in in that department in 2017.
This is a move you can be excited about.
I agree that it’s a minor improvement, but I would have rather also kept Hyde and let Gunter walk off a bridge somewhere. Hyde had a knack for being around the ball, more so than any other DB in our rotation. That screen-pass pick against Dallas in the Divisional round saved our asses – Dallas had ALL the momentum at that point and was definitely going to put up points on that possession.
You speak only the truth my man…much respect.
Lol. So let me get this straight. House is going to be a bandaid #1 corner (maybe??) We didn’t sign Lacy, so who is running back next year? Sorry, I don’t think Montgomery can be an effective 200+ carry RB. Lacy was probably a little overpriced, but in this case, I would have overpaid him for one year. It gives you more flexibility with drafting, focusing on corner and pass rusher, positions this draft so happens to be deep in. Now, instead you have to devote one of your first three picks to a RB most likely. Instead of throwing darts at CBs or OLBs, or even a DL, and hoping one of them hit.
Oh, and will said rookie back be able to be proficent at pass pro? And then we have the two starting guards (Taylor and Barclay?) In the last year of their deals. Spriggs doesn’t have the base or strength to play guard. FUCK!!
I’m ok being done with the Eddie Lacy experiment, we gave him every opportunity in the world to decide what his priorities are.
I don’t know if House was necessarily signed to be a #1. But i do know one thing, we needed him, he IS an upgrade, plain and simple. If he outplays Rollins, and Randall in camp to be a starter. So much the better for the defense. whether a starter or not, he has skills, and is an upgrade.
I agree with your 2nd post about the 0 line. It’s now a mess, and another need in the draft beside lb, secondary, running back, pass rush, def lineman.
We have too many needs going into a season. That’s not how this team is suppose to function under our fictional team building philosophy. Which is why you often see me post that the team is regressing, or that it’s broken.
I was kind of done with Lacy as well, but at the same time, RB would have been a little less pressing need. Now instead, like you said we need all of those positions. It is too many needs for one draft to fix. I think House will be the #1, and that is not an indictment of him being good, but more how disastrous the rest of the corners are. TT has fucked this so badly.
This draft is loaded with CB’s and OLB’s that can be had in the first 2 rounds. The RB’s are also sold through the first 5 rounds. Most of our needs can be plugged in the draft and after teams cut down again. I do see what all the fuss is about with GB sitting on ~$20 M in cap space, but maybe they are looking at extending Adams and Linsley soon…
If they extend Adams, they sure as fuck better be cutting Cobb. Not investing $30 million in the WR position per year.
The report that House wasn’t going to sign back with the Packers was bullshit. And i called it as such.

I’m wondering if this report even has any merit. There are no reports about this. As a matter of fact, there are no reports about anyone besides the Packers, interested in House.
Time will tell.
All you did was say that there are not any “reports about this.” You made no predictions of any kind. Man, you are starting to get a little weird on here…quoting yourself, replying to yourself and shit. If you are in prison or something I understand, otherwise maybe chill a little.

That’s a little vague.
If he knows that House isn’t signing with the Packers, then surely he must know who he’s signing with.
This dude sounds like a hack as he’s the only one reporting this.
All i did was call it bullshit
Don’t like it? Don’t read it, then maybe you can chill a little.
This signing was a no-brainer. Much like the James Jones signing in 2015.
When House is your no 1 corner you are screwed. TT is another fool promoted to his level of incompetence.
Yep . . .
