We’re not entirely sure the feeling is mutual, but now Minnesota Vikings defensive end Datone Jones had a nice thank you for Green Bay Packers fans and personnel today.

As a former first-round pick, Jones was a disappointment for the Packers. He recorded just nine sacks in his four-year Packers’ career. There has been discussion about Jones possibly being Ted Thompson’s worst draft pick, although I would still hand that dishonor to Justin Harrell.
At least Jones tried.
If he really wants to thank us, he can be just as unproductive with the Vikings as he was in Green Bay.
Id also like to thank Datone. Thank you Datone for never living up to your first round selection. Thank you Datone for your disappearing acts in big games. Thank you Datone for your willingness to move to OLB in your last season and provide no impact on a terrible defense. Finally, thank you Datone for getting busted with the Mary Jane the day after the NFC title game in 15. We all felt like lighting up after that one too. Godspeed my friend.
A lot of players in todays game do it. So Datone is not the only one. To me Datone was very good at one thing. Datone let the fans and teammates know when he made a play he was paid to make, even if it was in a losing cause. Yes he made sure he showed everyone he was Dat One, occasionally.
He has class. I’ll give him that. Probably more than i’ve ever seen from the Packers.
Wish him the best. While I will forever be disappointed in his production and play, these guys are human, sometimes I think fans forget that. I can’t “hate” someone for not living up to a status that a GM of a team created.
Good luck in the future, just not while in MInneshithole.
Unfortunate that Dat One didn’t turn out to be.
