Clay Matthews Wants To Be An Actor

Whether he was kidding or not, Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews has said he wants to be an actor.

“I’m hoping to get a feature film now. I’ve proven myself as a cameo guy. I want to maybe be a superhero. I’m going to throw my name out there for anyone who is looking for a superhero,” Matthews said.

As you probably know, Matthews had a small role — along with several of the Packers’ offensive linemen — in the movie Pitch Perfect 2.

He also probably has more commercials on during the season than he has games played.

We once compared Matthews to Thor, but unfortunately for him, that role is taken by Chris Hemsworth.

Let’s name some notable football players who became actors… Merlin Olsen, Alex Karras, O.J. Simpson, Fred Williamson, John Matuszak, Dick Butkus, Michael Strahan, Bubba Smith…

Don’t forget actor Brett Favre…in There’s Something about Mary. He looked like a dumb hillbilly….so he did a great job staying in character.

I wouldn’t shed a tear if Mathews was traded, or even cut.

Mathews needs to realize that he’s getting paid Super Hero money to make plays on a football field and too idk…earn that money?

This concept, for whatever reason seems to have eluded him.
I also heard if you want to be a Super Hero, it helps if your own teammates respect you enough to vote you a Captain.

very well said and I bet a lot of GBP fans agree, He either gets paid to be a pass rusher bringing down the opponent’s QB or he needs to leave to become an actor and get paid to be on the silver screen.

Seriously…i think when a player, starts talking things like retirement, or maybe doing something else. That mentally…it’s a sign that this guy isn’t all in anymore.

That’s pretty fucked up when you average a guy out at 13 mill and he’s mostly known for his commercials.

I don’t see Matthews as anything more than another lackluster, monotone football celebrity who does commercials for brands that want instant attention. A thirty second commercial about frozen pizza or car insurance? Sure…. A full length movie where he has to be the lead actor and show a contrast in personality and acting ability? Probably not.

LOL….his senior citizen wife will be shaking in her compression hoses if her much younger husband is cast next to some pretty young thing. He will finally realize what he’s missing out on by marrying someone so much older than himself and someone close to menopause.

JJFATS, your casual cruelty made me laugh very hard. Thanks buddy!

And here i thought you were laughing while re-watching the queens blow up the last 2/3rds of their season.

        Honest mistake…my bad

Clay already has a ton of experience acting. He really sold it how he was not taking PEDs. Then, clearly, he stopped taking them last year and here we go with the hamstring issues and having back up free agent guards wash him out of plays.

I say if he’s that interested in acting, the Packers should go ahead and cut him so that Hollywood can pay for his lack luster performance and the Packers can get someone who really wants to play football

So he’s in a cameo and now is seeking a feature film where he’s a superhero? How about being a superhero on the field? I think the roid use has taken their toll and his body cannot support him anymore. Apparently he’s looking for his next income. The Rock you ain’t Clay.
