I don’t know if everyone hates Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson, but there was a time when you’d assume so if you spent any time on the Internet in the past two days.
That time was right up until exact minute the Packers signed tight end Martellus Bennett. People we’re losing their damn minds!
Personally, as someone who has always hated Ted Thompson, I knew the Packers’ apparent do-nothing approach to free agency was the norm. It’s exactly what I expected.
And let’s be honest. The Packers were trying to re-sign Jared Cook, but we now have a good idea that Cook was asking for more than what the Packers were willing to pay (I’ve heard $9 million annually). Only after negotiations were halted did Thompson turn to Bennett.
Frankly, I’m still stunned at the move, even though I made the exact suggestion. It is the most un-Ted Thompson move of the Ted Thompson era.
On the other hand, he really didn’t have a choice, did he? Rolling with Richard Rodgers in 2017 would have been something akin to career suicide.
Regardless, there was a time when there was no hope and boy, did I find it amusing…

Way to do your job TT. As a reminder the defense sucked hind tit last year. If you look at the upcoming schedule there are some fairly decent offenses to be reckoned with. A big upgrade is needed on Defense. Another pass rusher and a #1 corner would be nice. The problem is most of the top corners are gone. Have fun stopping Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, AJ Green, Dez Bryant, Mike Evans, Deshaun Jackson, etc. and every future unknown wide receiver to have career days against the Packers. Defense (#1 corner and pass rusher) and Lang then I will feel better.
Really that was a good move TT but we all expected you to sign a TE, just not the one you did. Good backup plan.
I agree, and lets take a good honest look at what’s been accomplished thus far. Yes, were only 3 days in, but has the team been improved from 5 days ago?
We signed a guy we already had…so no change there. Except he will make really good coin.
We replaced a good tight end they didn’t use enough, with another good tight end. But the new tight end has better blocking skills.
So thus far, we can say with certainty that we improved the blocking from our tight end position which is a plus.
Other than that, , we lost Hyde, and Tretter, but resigned Don”The Destroyer” Barclay.
So i leave it to you fine folks….Has this team, as a whole, been improved so far. And if so, how?
Don “the destroyer” Barclay. That name has to stick.
Peppers leaving is a sign GB will win the SB. He is one of those players not destined to win one..Tony Gonzalez, Dan Marino, Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Tony Romo, If they are on your team you are not winning the big game.
Go sign a couple other players with a title and you will win one for sure, not guys at the end chasing one.
Now we know FERRIS is one of the three fates of destiny. Has to be Clotho. What with knowing Peppers destiny and all. And that if a handful of other already retired players. Quick Clotho, prove ye mettle to ye deities and demi-Gods, name a player destined to be drafted in the 1st round of this year’s draft who will never get to a Super Bowl. Wait, just to be sure, name 7!
It all makes sense now that FERRIS is Clotho, one of the three Fates. After all, their description fits perfectly: “…being ugly and old women, stern and severe…”
That’s an interesting theory to believe in. WOW
Mad Murphy caught playbacking Shirle Bassey:
The minute you walked in the joint,
I could see you were a man of distinction,
A real Big Spender,
Good looking, so refined.
Say, wouldn’t you like to know what’s going on in my mind?
So let me get right to the point,
I don’t pop my cork for every man I see.
HEY Big Spender,
Speeeeeeeeeeeeeend a little time with me.
“Only after negotiations were halted did Thompson turn to Bennett.”

TT probably low balled Cook, fucked that up, then realized he better sign a tight end or else have everyone furious with him.

Hmm, is TT predictable much? Although $9 mil is high IF that’s what Cook wanted.
