Packers Have Third-Best Odds for Super Bowl LII

The Super Bowl is over, so we’ve got to have some odds for next year’s game. That’s just how it works. Not surprisingly, the Green Bay Packers have the third-best odds for Super Bowl LII, which will be right over in Minnesota.

Odds to Win Super Bowl 52 (via @BovadaLV):

New England Patriots: 5-1
Dallas Cowboys: 9-1
Green Bay Packers: 9-1
Pittsburgh Steelers: 12-1

Personally, I think it’s crazy to try to gauge an NFL team before free agency or the draft. Of course, we know the Packers will do nothing in the former, so it’s really just the latter that matters in this case.

The numbers have actually changed a bit since these were released. However, the teams remain in the same order and there are really no surprises at the top. The Patriots, Packers and Steelers are always at the top of this list at this time.

The Cowboys are obviously the newcomer, but based on their 2016 season, how can you argue?

The rest of the NFC North stacks up like this. The are at Minnesota Vikings 20/1, the Detroit Lions are at 50/1 and the Chicago Bears bring up the rear at 100/1. The 49ers, Browns and Jets are tied with Chicago for the worst odds.

That might have something to do with their quarterback situations.

The smart money gets put on the Falcons as the offense will remain, and the defense, unlike the Packers, will get better.

Oddsmakers are whack. Have they looked at the Packers schedule? Usual division rivals, then NFC South (3 or 4 good teams), AFC North (3 good teams) and then SEA and DAL as a result of winning our division. I don’t see how Pack registers double digit wins next year, in fact, it may be the season we see the big dropoff due to the lack of defensive playmakers. 9-7 with a division win is about as much upside as I see; 6-10 wouldn’t shock me.

Good point. we’ve been the favorite how many times in the last 6 years.

It’s like a Mel Kiper final mock draft, basically worthless.

For fucks sake they say same bullshit every year and it means absolutely nothing. Just a bunch of mental masturbation. “Our predictions show that the Packers are gonna win the Super Bowl for the next ten years straight!” Must be true!! Might as well rename the year end prize the McCarthy trophy!! It’s gonna happen!! You heard it here first!!

These odds are insanely generous. We’ll always be competitive with Rodgers, but we won’t be about shit in terms of championships unless:. By rank of favorability: 1) Ted Thompson is gone 2) Murphy forces TT to bring in considerable outside talent (he’s said he won’t) or 3) We get a different D-Coordinator

I used to bash McCarthy much more in the past, but he can only do so much. Meanwhile, Belichick has played both HC and won 5 titles while also playing GM. Seattle gutted all but 4 guys on their roster in 3 years and a few years later, make it to back to back super bowls. In Green Bay, they’re blessed with 2 HoF QBs over 20 yrs and have 1 title for each QB to show for it.
