There’s a new regime in San Francisco and that means the old regime is being cleaned out. Matt Malaspina, the 49ers’ former director of college scouting landed on his feet though — with the Green Bay Packers.
The Packers have added Malaspina as a college scout.

Malaspina spent 12 years in the 49ers’ front office, the last four of which were in the position of director of college scouting. That’s a role that Jon-Eric Sullivan currently holds with the Packers.
Malaspina also spent time as a scout with Seattle and Carolina.
It’s an interesting addition for the Packers, in that Malaspina is obviously taking a step back in his career. However, we expect there to be some shakeup in the Packers’ front office as soon as next year. Ted Thompson’s contract is up and director of football operations Eliot Wolf and director of player personnel Brian Gutekunst aren’t going to hang around forever without getting a shot at the top job.
In other words, it could be fortuitous that the Packers have someone with Malaspina’s experience waiting in the wings.
Also, as you can see by the way he tucks his pencil into his cap, he’ll clearly be good buds with Mike McCarthy.
But we already have a director of college scouting. What we need is a general manager.
This ^^^^
Maybe he can direct Teddy bipolar bear from drooling over college players to free agency.
