Likely the biggest story leading up to the Green Bay Packers’ wild card round win over the New York Giants was the party boat.
The Giants’ receivers went to Miami immediately following their season-ending victory over Washington to party on a boat with Trey Songz. They were later spotted in the club with Justin Bieber.
The media harped on the story all week long and it had to be a distraction for the Giants. One of those receivers — Victor Cruz — now thinks that maybe the trip wasn’t such a great idea.
“Looking back on it, it definitely wasn’t worth it,” Cruz said on the “Timeout with Taylor Rooks” podcast. “At the end of the day, you want to put your mind in a place where you want to succeed at whatever your next task is, especially in a football setting and a football atmosphere.”
Neither Cruz nor the Giants’ top receiver, Odell Beckham Jr., played well against the Packers. Cruz had just three catches for 30 yards and Beckham had four for 28 to go along with two huge drops.
After the game, Beckham punched a hole in the Lambeau Field locker room wall. There were also rumors that the Giants trashed their plane on the way back to New York.
So real strong judgment all around.
It’s what they call the Bieber curse. Look it up.
Of course it was a bad idea, not one of those guy’s can swim
Dumb idea. Exactly why receivers dropped the balls when they came to Lambeau. I heard Beckham went to Miami again.
