The Green Bay Packers have left the door open for Jordy Nelson to play on Sunday. However, we don’t expect him to play and it sounds like quarterback Aaron Rodgers doesn’t either.
“It’s tough,” Rodgers said. “We’ve played a lot of football together. You realize how important these opportunities are, how they don’t come around every single year. We feel great about our team. Obviously, we feel better with 87 in the lineup. He’s a classy guy and a great teammate. I was with him last night and the night before. He’s staying positive and he’s hopeful.
“We’re going to try to get this one and hopefully get him back if he can’t play this week.”
Nelson came away with fractured ribs after taking a helmet to that area by Giants cornerback Leon Hall last Sunday. The Packers have said Nelson will try to practice on Saturday and that will determine if he plays on Sunday.
We aren’t expecting to see 87 on the field this week. In fact, if the Packers win and keep winning, we’d be surprised if he returned prior to the Super Bowl.
That’s getting ahead of ourselves though. This week could very well be the Packers’ final game of the season and Jordy Nelson will probably be sidelined for it.
