The Green Bay Packers will send three players to the Pro Bowl, at least at this point. The NFL’s annual all-star game usually ends up being a bastardization of itself when it’s all said and done with players pulling out and so forth.
At any rate, quarterback Aaron Rodgers, guard T.J. Lang and safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix got the initial nod.
In our estimation two of those guys actually deserve to be there.
The one who doesn’t would be Clinton-Dix. While he does have four interceptions on the season, Clinton-Dix also has penchant for being out of position. That has probably cost the Packers more this season than his four picks have given the team.
The Pro Bowl really isn’t about merit though. It’s popularity contest and Clinton-Dix is certainly well liked.
Do the Packers deserve to have more players in the Pro Bowl?
We would make a case for left tackle David Bakhtiari, who is playing the best football of his career. A case could also be made for right tackle Bryan Bulaga.
The offensive line has been the strong point of the Packers this season and those two guys have been just as good if not better than Lang.
Defensively, we’d make a case for the Packers other safety, Morgan Burnett, who actually leads the team in tackles.
