It’s a good thing the Green Bay Packers got their losing out of the way earlier in the season.
Every other team trying to get into the playoffs appears to be doing their losing now. That has worked out very well for the Packers.
They’ve gone from sitting on the outside looking in to being squarely in the thick of the playoff hunt. At 8-6, the Packers currently sit as the sixth seed in the NFC.
They can thank Washington — a team that dominated them not that long ago — for that distinction. The Redskins got rolled by the Carolina Panthers on Monday, dropping them to 7-6-1.
Throw in losses by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions and things are looking pretty nice for the Packers.
Of those teams, only the Lions have position over the Packers by way of their 9-5 record. However, the Packers will face the Lions in week 17. The Lions’ loss to the New York Giants on Sunday sets that game up as a winner-takes-the-division contest.
That is, providing the Packers beat the Vikings this week.
It’s all right there in front of you now, boys.
Win the last two, win the division and you’re in.
