Each year around this time, we hear about someone on the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad getting a substantial raise. This typically happens after another team tries to sign that player to their active roster. This year, that guy is defensive lineman Brian Price.
The Indianapolis Colts tried to poach Price. He agreed to stay on the Packers’ practice squad after they gave him a salary bump from $6,900 per week to $26,465.
That latter amount is the rookie minimum for an active roster player. It’s also what Price would have gotten from the Colts.
Price did spend two weeks on the Packers’ active roster this year. He was elevated from the practice squad in week 3, when the Packers were dealing with injuries and suspensions on the defensive line. Price was then released and re-signed to the practice squad when Mike Pennel returned from his first suspension.
That may actually have played a role in why the Packers were keen on keeping Price around.
Pennel is currently on his second suspension. Who knows what his future holds and, more immediately, the Packers are probably one defensive line injury away from adding Price back to the active roster.
Hey people!!!
Lets not glance over this e-mail thing.
Am i the only one that see’s a problem with Munn answering Rodgers e-mail?
