PAD LEVEL!
Just kidding. Mike McCarthy does not believe that pad level is the reason the Green Bay Packers are losing games, unlike so many other times in the past.
Apparently, this Green Bay Packers team has the appropriate pad level because we haven’t heard Fat Mike mention that one time during this disgusting season.
Unfortunately, while they might have their pad level down, the Packers do have some other problems. McCarthy has pinpointed the main culprit for the losing football happening in Green Bay right now and it is, for a change, completely logical reasoning.
“The biggest hole in our football team is our turnover ratio. I’ve been talking about it all year. We’re not taking care of the football, we’re not taking the football way. Until that changes, we’re going to be fighting uphill.”
It’s interesting that McCarthy has not been talking about this all year. In fact, this is the first time we’ve heard him mention turnover ratio.
That’s not to say he hasn’t mentioned it, but it just doesn’t seem like it’s been a theme. In any case… no shit.
The Packers have a -6 turnover differential this season. That currently has them tied for 27th in the NFL with the Chicago Bears. The four teams below them are Cleveland, the Giants, the Jets and Jacksonville.
There’s only one team with a winning record in that bunch.
While we’d like to point the finger at the defense for not taking the ball away, it’s an all-around problem. The Packers’ 16 giveaways are the ninth-highest total in the league.
Their 10 takeaways have them ranked 23rd in the league. Clearly, not very good on either front.
It’s more glaring on the defensive side of the ball though. As we’ve discussed ad nauseam, Dom Capers’ defense — and its success — is predicated on pressuring the quarterback and forcing turnovers. The Packers haven’t been able to do either of those things this season.
And thus, the product you see on the field.
This all starts with Ted and the apparent stranglehold he has on everyone’s balls within this organization. That weird Slingblade fuck leaves this steaming deuce in the yard and hides while the coaching staff has to face the world to spin his fucking retarded decisions. GGT is too busy building his third rate theme park and having nightmares of Ted,aka Carl Childers, grinding away on that mower blade “….Sure do like them French fried taters Mmmmm Hmmmm….” and will never fire Ted. Unfortunately Eliot Wolf will probably be jumping at the first job offer coming his way now that Schneider, Dorsey, and MacKenzie have all escaped Ted’s shed He’s the only one left to help Ted with his diaper. One has to wonder if Rodgers is going to start planning his exit strategy in the next year or two knowing it’s going to be more of the same shit. I bet he would jump at the chance to go to Frisco and be the savior there for the last years of his career. Everybody under the age of 40 get ready. You are about to experience what the 70’s and 80’s were like.
Praying for a damn miracle here. Packers would have to win 10 straight to win the Super Bowl now, and it just blows knowing they’re on the thread of a needle.
Believe it or not I don’t believe the Packers have a talent issue. We drafted a cornerback in the first and second round two years ago and we have Sam Shields. Injuries in addition to sophomore slump have contributed to bad play in the secondary. Amazingly Aaron Rodgers is turning it around, he has a passer rating of 115 in his last four games. Jared Cook has actually given me some new hope, dare I say it almost felt like the days of old with Greg Jennings and Donald Driver.
we’ve seen how Mike McCarthy coaches with his back against the wall and at least now he’s finally admitted that. I don’t have high hopes but there’s still half a chance in hell.
To be perfectly honest the main reason I’m holding on to the little hope that there is left is because my favorite cheesehead brother is finally back in my home state watching football again with me for the first time in 7 years. I really don’t want this year to go to waste.
Please forgive me. Trust me, Im frustrated as hell too.
Well Chad, have fun while your brother visits. But you can let go of that hope, and join the rest of us in admitting this season is nothing but a clusterfuck. But also take comfort in knowing that change is on the way.
So, while your brother visits, enjoy the Holidays together, have some cocktails and good food. even watch the Packers, but do so with a sense of humor. If you want to watch entertaining Packer games with your brother, playback all the playoff games and the SuperBowl of the 2010 season.
Happy and safe holidays to you and your family Chad.

“change is on the way” I sure hope you’re correct. If we write this off as just “plagued by injuries” so nothing to see here, people then I’m going to be really annoyed. Reports out of GB are that Wolf is fed up with TT because he keeps bringing prospects and FAs to TT’s attention – who promptly does nothing with them. Too late now for like Cromartie or Browner – what would be the point? But a couple of weeks ago was not too late. Knile Davis? are you kidding me?
I’m concerned about the “plaqued by injuries” things also Abe.
But here’s the thing. Before all the injuries, in week 1 Mariota passed for 320 yards, in week 2, even Bradford passed for 285 yards. week 3 Stafford passed for 385 yards.
So the problem was always there.
Is it pad level? I bet it’s pad level.
McSlob Coaching Tip. Call TO thinking you may get ball back final 2 minutes, he’s the Only Clueless F%K to not notice we have NOOOO Defense, then opponent lures the FAT-WAHOO in and “bing, bing, bing” they’re dancing in our endzone. Does it every week.
At least the 2011 defense forced a lot of turnovers. Quite frankly I am surprised this defense has forced as many as it has
The 2011 defense was a gambling defense. They were willing to give up a lot of yards, to self create turnover opportunities. If i remember right, that defense had 27 picks.
This defense plays on it’s heels, even when we had the starters. Part of the blame is up front, as we can’t get pressure rushing 4. Sometimes their own schemes handicap them when they play 2 deep when they don’t need to, and vice versa.
31 picks in 2011. 7 picks so far this season.
Although the 2011 defense was ranked last giving up 411 ypg, they allowed 22.4ppg. Which ranked them 19th. It should be noted the 2010 defense only gave up 15 ppg, which ranked 2nd.
Note: Ted let Cullen Jenkins walk before the 2011 season.
Just for giggles: The 2010 offense scored 24.2 ppg. This seasons offense is scoring 24.7 ppg.
Todays defense is giving up only 356 ypg. But they are ranked 27th in giving up 27.6 ppg.
The bottom line is Capers had 1 standout defense 6 years ago, which in Green Bay equates to job security and unaccountability, IF the team continues to win. Which is why 2016 is the season of accountability in Green Bay FINALLY.
Don’t think for a second that Capers has any prayer of coaching in Green Bay next season. as sure as the snow will fly this winter, Capers will be terminated (told to resign).

Yes, looks like Rodgers has picked up his game. Back to godlike? Don’t know, but the team shouldn’t depend on him playing like a god. This loss was 65% on the defense and 35% offensive play calling (yeah, let’s run Starks up the middle! Our line will clear the way…). Was it three possessions (punts) after the approach changed?
Turnovers? What about the plethora of three and outs??
