Poor Joe Callahan.
The quarterback is going to be cut for the second time in two weeks it appears. Callahan was released by the Green Bay Packers last week and he will reportedly be released by the team that claimed him on waivers — the New Orleans Saints — today.
Attention: Packers. Saints are waiving QB Joe Callahan today, source says. Just like GB, they want him back but need the roster spot.

Could that clear the way for Callahan to return to Green Bay? It certainly seems possible.
Callahan earned a roster spot as the third quarterback with the Packers after a strong training camp and preseason. It was one of the most surprising developments of camp, considering Callahan was an undrafted rookie from a Division III school. No one expected it, but Callahan played his way onto the roster.
The Packers didn’t want to release Callahan, but they had to make a move when Mike Pennel and Demetri Goodson returned from their four-game suspensions. Releasing Callahan was the first move they made, thinking they’d be able to bring him back on the practice squad. The Saints claimed him instead.
Unless another team claims Callahan this time around, he’ll likely have the choice of joining the Packers’ or Saints’ practice squad.
The decision will likely come down to where he thinks he has a better shot at actually getting to and sticking on a 53-man roster.
I wonder if the bears pick him up. Or maybe he heads out west, where former Packer players go to die.
I would very much like to have him back in Green N Gold, but it likely won’t happen. He had a great preseason and I wasn’t the only person watching those games.
Stay away from Chicago Joe.
I’m surprised that the winless Browns didn’t think the guy could be at least their backup QB .
