The Green Bay Packers are already without Sam Shields in their secondary and they now may also be without Damarious Randall.
Those, ladies and gentlemen, are your top two corners.
At least on the depth chart… Randall hasn’t played like a top corner since Shields went down with a concussion.
Regardless, Randall is listed as questionable with a groin injury on the Friday injury report.
If Randall sits against the New York Giants, the top spot would go to another second-year player, Quinten Rollins. LaDarius Gunter, an undrafted free agent from the 2015 class, would also start. The third corner would be undrafted rookie Josh Hawkins.
You may remember him as the guy who gave up the 73-yarder to Marvin Jones when the Packers played the Lions two weeks ago.
That lineup is less than desirable with Eli Manning on the slate.
However, we also suspect safety Micah Hyde would see a lot of time at corner if Randall is out. That’s a role he’s proven adept at in a pinch.
For the Packers, the question is simple. Do you run Randall out there if he’s less than 100 percent, which the questionable designation suggests he is?
And the obvious answer is no because a cornerback that can’t run is useless.
