The Green Bay Packers have claimed running back Jhurell Pressley on waivers from the Minnesota Vikings.
The likely signals the end of Brandon Burks brief stay on the team’s 53-man roster.
Pressley is an undrafted rookie from New Mexico, but he brings something to the Packers we’ve been asking for for a while. That is a change of pace from Eddie Lacy and James Starks.
Pressley is blazing fast. He ran a 4.38 40-yard dash.
Once he knows the offense and if he can pass protect, Pressley could be a great third-down back. He can also return kicks. He took one back 106 yards during the preseason finale against the Rams. He also caught a 28-yard touchdown pass in that game.
The Vikings were interested in signing Pressley to their practice squad. They obviously won’t get that chance, but of course, the Packers will have to make a corresponding roster move now that they have Pressley.
