The Jacksonville Jaguars, the NFL’s junior varsity team, went and drafted themselves a cornerback with the No. 5 overall pick in this year’s draft. That guy is Jalen Ramsey and he ain’t afraid of no ghost.
Apparently, he’s also not afraid of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Ramsey welcomed the idea of Rodgers coming his way on Sunday.
“I’m not scared,” Ramsey said. “Throw my way if you want to.”
That was pretty dumb. You know Rodgers has a text alert on his phone that lights up anytime anyone says anything that might remotely be considered a slight to the man. He’s sitting there right now laughing, reading these comments and devising ways to make Ramsey look like a total fool. This is the guy who carries a list around of pundits who said he couldn’t do one thing or another well entering the 2005 NFL Draft.
I’m exaggerating, of course, but only slightly. Aaron Rodgers never forgets.
Ramsey even pontificated about getting his first NFL interception against Rodgers, who would rather run around for 20 minutes and take a 50-yard loss on a sack than even think about trying to force one in.
“It’d mean a lot to me,” he said. “It’ll be my first NFL interception but that’s not really what I’m focused on right now. I’m just focused on doing what I can do for the team.”
Also dumb. But look, you’re a rookie. You’re going to be taken behind the woodshed on Sunday. And then you’ll learn.
Interestingly, this probably takes a load of pressure off a former Packer. Davon House will be manning the other cornerback position for the Jags on Sunday.
Davon House had a nice season last year, better than Shields.
PFL, I can guarantee you that neither one of us and most assuredly quite a few more on this site were not too surprised at Davon House playing well. Here are a few quick stats between the two; Shields 39 tackles and 3 interceptions. House 60 tackles and 4 interceptions . . . Per PFF: “Davon House surrendered a passer rating below 80.0 in his first season in Jacksonville” Hey I dig Sam Shields, but House could have been a stud in Green Bay.
I think he had a lot more passes defended also.
Sorry PF4L not PFL . . .
Damn. Hope this kid gets trashed on Sunday. Them are fightin words.
Yea they are, especially since he hasn’t played in a NFL game yet. Sounds like another Cam Newton.
That’s the type of attitude you want your CB to have…
Don’t assume any kind of rational thinking when you visit this site.
Especially rockhead comments from the sheep who are incapable of doing their own thinking, and having their own opinions.
You can talk the talk, and have attitude, AFTER you’ve walked the walk.
Seems like letting House walk could prove to be a mistake. Where’s the outrage guys? Shouldn’t we be hating on McCarthy and Ted right now for this?
Everyone knows that the one unit in football that suffers most with moving parts is the offensive line. To take 20% of your starting offensive line out one week before the season starts is a lot different than losing a corner 6 months before a new season. In addition I believe teammates look at a surprise cut of a veteran one week before the start of a season different than a player leaving in FREE agency six months before a season.
I mentioned House had a nice season. Is that ok? Should i get your approval first? Or should i just buy you a copy of Football for Dummies.
Yeah, fuck Randall and Rollins. They’ll never be as good as House. And fuck the salary cap too.
Fire TT!! Fire MM!! Fire everybody!!
Dont try using logic on these stupid asshats…
Good advice, i’ll stop responding to Ditka’s Mom
That’s more like it!
