This hasn’t gone according to plan.
This was supposed to be the year Jeff Janis made a major contribution as a receiver for the Green Bay Packers. The ascension hasn’t really taken place yet and a hand injury just might eliminate any possibility of that happening.
Janis fractured a bone in his hand during practice on Wednesday. That injury cost him Friday’s preseason opener and could have Janis sidelined for much of the exhibition slate, according to Rob Demovsky.
Janis has been battling Davante Adams and Jared Abbrederis for the No. 3 receiver spot. Thus far, he’s been losing. When the Packers released their first depth chart at the beginning of the week, Janis was listed with the third team.
This injury certainly won’t help his cause to improve that position.
This site is doomed who. There is going to be nothing to write about.
He’s not really battling Abby though. Abby is most likely a slot guy and Janis is not.
That depth chart you quote only lists 2 starting receivers. Where by most counts they play 3 wrs.
So Janis is battling devante “can’t catch” Adams for a second wide out…. And granted he’s losing to Adams now it still puts him on the second team.
Not sure where Abby is but his group has Montgomery and Cobb. So Abby is either second team or third.
Abby is def on the bubble though where Janis is a lock for spc. teams.
Janis sucks balls. Hope he gets straight up cut so I don’t have to watch him trip over his own feet anymore.
This is why the conversation about the Packers keeping so many receivers was premature.
Janis broke a bone in his hand and it is a “major” setback. Is he going to have to wear a big cast? Is his thumb fractured? A broken wrist? Is a portion of his hand going to need to be amputated?
Last I saw Janis does not have a problem with drops. Janis has a problem with running routes and getting on the same page with Rodgers. I would guess a hand or finger injury will not stop Janis from practicing running routes. Depending on severity it could keep Janis from some contact drills, and that may effect Rodgers and Janis from working together in live action.
And to think it wasn’t that long ago when it was great fun for a QB to try to break receivers fingers in practice. Need more info before we use the word serious.
