This was a given when it was revealed receiver Jeff Janis has a fracture in his hand on Saturday. Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy got the formality out of the way on Sunday.
McCarthy told the media Janis won’t practice this week, but did not give a timetable for his return.
“He won’t practice this week,” McCarthy said. “I really haven’t talked to (team physician Pat) McKenzie as far as the specifics of his timeline and so forth. He will not be available this week.”
The Packers haven’t confirmed the injury yet, either. However, it doesn’t appear that Janis will be able to return anytime soon.
We expect him to be sidelined for at least three weeks and that’s assuming he doesn’t need surgery.
That likely removes any shot Janis had of claiming the No. 3 receiver job. That slot appears to be down to Davante Adams and Jared Abbrederis.
