Greg Jennings just announced his retirement via a YouTube video.
To a certain degree, you could say the decision was made for Jennings. Two offseasons in a row, Jennings has been released by the team he played the previous season with. Jennings was most recently cut by the Miami Dolphins. He’s been unemployed since.
During his lone season in Miami, Jennings caught just 19 passes for 208 yards and one touchdown. That followed two lackluster seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.
Although Jennings had his best seasons with the Green Bay Packers, there were definitely some bad feelings when he left for Minnesota. Jennings seemed to have it out for quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Packers organization. He later admitted that he was hurt when the Packers didn’t re-sign him.
Jennings caught 425 passes for 6,537 yards and 53 touchdowns with the Packers. He was a Pro Bowler in 2010 and 2011.
If Greg’s sister is OK with this move, then so am I
Didn’t he walk after they offered him like $8M to take $8.5 with the Vikings? Hurt they didn’t re-sign him? I think they tried. He may still be playing if he stayed, seemed like a good guy until the Rodgers “12” war. Maybe he can open a shoe store with Christian Ponder.
Statistically, he’s been retired since 2012. Hall of Fame! (Well… in his own mind that is)
Kept wanting to believe his words were all just being taken out of context, but the longer this whole thing went on, it became more and more clear that Jennings had something dark happened along the way with this otherwise very classy person. I never expected Jennings to have acted so irrationally, so what in the world really happened? Did his family constantly bicker him that if he played for another team he would be much more appreciated and well paid to the point that he eventually believed it? Seriously, just what the hell happened???
I decided to read this article in particular for the posted comments. When a Vikings player retires, even after having left the team and played for other teams, Viking fans genuinely wish them good luck and send appreciations. I admit, I was pessimistic about the sportsmanship of the Packers fans and guessed that half the comments would be mean-hearted and low-minded. Well, I was wrong. All of them, 100% are! Wow, Packer sportsmanship is even worse than I pessimistically guessed!
Killer,……and I like to read Vikings comments to hear about how much better you are than the Packers because you won the Division a lot in the 70s and 80s (it’s almost like kicking everyone’s ass on the short bus and bragging about it)……and how NONE of our WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS count before the Vikings came into existence………and how the last few SB the Packers have won also don’t count because they were a few years ago already……My absolute favorite tho is how Bert Fav was a better QB when he played for the Vikings. That cheers me up every time I hear that argument from your super high-sportsmanship, classy fanbase.
I point out the lack of classy sportsmanship and what results? An increase and repetition of classless poor sportsmanship. You just further confirm my point, NEDER.
Sportsmanship? Had Jennings had an ounce of sportsmanship when he wasn’t resigned and left Green Bay, it would have been a non-issue. Greg was GREAT in Green Bay… but the way he left showed his true colors and it was fitting he ended up in Sota, where it was all downhill from there. Carry on.

All Jennings did was very politely make keen observations about Rodgers. He is a creepy guy his teammates do not like and no one stands in his way to temper his insecure arrogance. Truth is like anti-matter to most Packer fans.
Jennings didn’t retire from the Packers, you dolt. He hasn’t been a Packer since he packed up his carpet and headed to that shithole to the west 3 years ago. Then Mr. Wonderful took the time to trash the Packers. So fuck him, and fuck you.

Neither I nor anyone on these comments stated that Jennings retired from the Packers. He retired from football. He had many great years in Green Bay for which the Packer fans do not have the class to thank him or wish him the best. Seriously, most spoiled 4 year olds are better sportsmen than Packer fans, at least the ones on this site.
I’m just gonna leave this link here for you Killer.

Instead of acknowledging my point as true or using logical argument against it (granted, there is none) you further resort to poor sportsmanship. I would not normally do this, but when attacked this is just self-defense. So, here is a link for you. This is actually a faint reflection of the deep crybaby whininess and poor sportsmanship common among Packer fans (not all, just a huge percentage).

This guy is so full of himself. Every time he talks about his greatness he should be thanking the team that supposedly brainwashed him, because since he left there hasn’t been anything great about him.
Always loved watching this guy play. His quick feet made a lot of pros look stupid. He was the #1 WR in the greatest WR core ever assembled – Jennings, Driver, Nelson, Jones, Cobb. The Packers and A-Rodge would have zero rings without him. See you at the Packer Hall of Fame, Greg.
Probably the best and quickest 1st step (juke) after the catch i’ve ever seen. If you watch Cobb, he tries to emulate it. But Jennings was the master. Agree with the greatest wr core. It was epic, and the production of the 2011 offense backs it up. The team went 15-1, with one of the leagues worst defense’s. That speaks volumes about that offense.
As far as Jennings, it’s too bad some players are too greedy and shortsighted, that they leave the perfect situation to go play somewhere else for 2 mill/year more. Play with Christian Ponder instead of Rodgers for 2 million? Well, you all saw what that got him. He would have had a much better career and legacy had he stayed with the Packers AND kept his mouth shut.
Oh well,
SKOL!!
His run after the catch ability and ability to catch in stride at full speed and continue onward with the ball was fantastic. His rapport with Favre was perfection. I always thought he was a very classy guy, very smart. His performance on the field waned with the Vikings but he was a great teammate and a great leader. He brought a lot of intangibles. He is the kind of guy you’d love to have as a friend or neighbor even if he was never a success in football.
Jennings was a big part of a Super bowl winning team. Not sure if there would have been a fourth Lombardi without Jennings. Jennings will always be part of Packer history. Jennings made a lot of great plays as a Packer, including that Super Bowl win. Jennings made a bad play by leaving the Packers. His worst play was the scorched earth way he left the team.
Players come and go, it is part of being in the NFL. The way a player leaves the team does make a difference in how you remember them. Being a key member of a super bowl team helps me remember those players in a better light, even though I still see and smell the scorched earth.
I always liked Jennings hips. He could turn a DB around like nobody’s business. He was so smooth and fluid doing it. I thought he was a classy guy while he was here and appreciate his work – especially during the super bowl season.
At very least, Killer he didn’t lie and scheme to go play for the Vikings unlike a certain other person we could name. They simply offered him more money. I don’t begrudge him that in the least. Then he shot his mouth off. I lost quite a bit of respect for him then that he’s not earned back yet.
Lie and scheme? What you talkin’ ’bout, Willis (Abe)? Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy and Clay Matthews and Mike Neal and Julius Peppers have never played for the Vikings!
Greg Jennings spoke truth and lost respect for it among Packer fans. I think that reveals a lot about the majority of Packer fans. Some are wonderful people but many more are terrible sports.
Your sarcasm is sophomoric.
You have an obvious repeating and biased stance of Jennings in all of your comments. If he said the same things leaving “your” team you would have felt a bit jilted. However, he said it to and about the Packers so Greg, to you, just “spoke the truth” yea! that’s it! please….
