We find it amazing that training camp hasn’t even started yet and already the Green Bay Packers have a lengthy injury list. Of course, these are the Green Bay Packers.
They always have an extensive injury list.
Certainly, some of this is due to caution and being overly so. Nonetheless, the Packers have plenty of guys sidelined during OTAs. Here’s the latest list of non-participants.
- CB Quinten Rollins
- RB Don Jackson
- CB Robertson Daniel
- CB Randall Jette
- LB Joe Thomas
- OLB Lerentee McCray
- LB Sam Barrington
- C Corey Linsley
- G T.J. Lang
- DE B.J. McBride
- WR Jordy Nelson
- WR Ty Montgomery
- TE Jared Cook
- DE Datone Jones (absent)
- DE Dean Lowry (absent)
- DT Kenny Clark (absent)
- T Kyle Murphy (absent)
The absentee players are not necessarily injured. We’re not sure why Datone Jones wasn’t present on Thursday, but Clark, for example, is still in school at UCLA.
Some of these players — Nelson, Montgomery and Barrington — are returning from serious injury and aren’t expected to go until training camp at the earliest. The rest of them appear to be either dealing with something leftover from last season, injured themselves working out before OTAs began or have hurt themselves since they arrived in Green Bay.
Cook and Daniel look like they fall into that last category, as both participated last week.
Unfortunately, we can’t tell you what’s wrong with any of these guys. The Packers aren’t required to divulge injury details right now and therefore, they don’t.
