Has there ever been a more fitting combination in advertising history? A soup called Chunky and a chunky running back.
That’s right.
Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy is now a Campbell’s Chunky soup man.
He will appear in ads — along with Saints quarterback Drew Brees, Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr., Rams running back Todd Gurley, Lions tight end Eric Ebron and Bears offensive lineman Kyle Long — this fall.
The campaign is called the “Everyman All-Star League” and is built around the idea of pro football players drafting everyday guys who are good at arcane tasks. Interestingly, it has a heavy NFC North flavor, with half of the participants being from the division.
You guys in the Midwest must really like your Chunky soup.
As for Lacy, we’re sure Packers coach Mike McCarthy loves this idea. After telling the guy to lose weight following the 2015 season, McCarthy still wasn’t enthralled with Lacy’s progress during OTAs. Lacy next to some Chunky soup probably has him downright steaming.
It was noted by more than one person that this period of downtime before training camp would be the biggest challenge for Lacy.
Pitch it, just don’t eat it, Eddie!
Here’s some stuff from the shoot, which was done Tuesday in Los Angeles.
why is eric ebron even in this
I wonder how Clay feels about this?
But it’s crappy soup, no matter who’s shilling it.
