If the arrival of good weather makes you ache to see sweaty young men and some pigskin being flung, then you should be glad to know that Packer practices open to the public are fast approaching.
With Rookie Orientation concluding this weekend, and the Packer veterans finishing their scheduled workouts, the next phase of the offseason will soon be starting. That is when the OTAs go to another level and players begin practicing beyond individual drills and workouts.
You have to give it a couple weeks yet, but then three open practices will fall in a two week span. It all starts on Tuesday, May 24 at 11:30 am on Ray Nitschke Field. Following that first practice will be two more on Thursday, June 2 and Monday, June 6. That final open practice will conclude the teams OTAs for 2016.
The Packers’ first mandatory minicamp is schedule for June 14-16. The exact schedule for those practices has not been released yet. After minicamp concludes, the Packers get their last extended break, about six weeks, before training camp starts in earnest at the end of July, as usual.
Don’t hope for it to come too quickly. It will all be here soon enough.
